Distortion
I believe there's either a bug or limitation in the current code that breaks the template if the YouTube username exceeds a certain number of characters. An example of this issue is available here. ポケモンあいこうか 21:06, 14 July 2011 (UTC)

- We are looking into it, part of the issue wasn't only that the videos were broken but it also posed a security issue. Depending on the security issue depends on if they will be reimplemented. --Spriteit (talk) 10:46, 30 January 2013 (UTC)
This template
So, is there ever a chance of this template working the way it's intended to again? If not, it might just be time to use an alternative since it's been a year and a half... Schiffy (瀬藤健二) (Talk Contribs) 18:40,1/24/2014 (UTC)
- Scratch that. I just looked at an old revision of the template, and it was working fine. Schiffy (瀬藤健二) (Talk Contribs) 18:42,1/24/2014 (UTC)
- The extension used by this template, and by extension the template itself, is unsatisfactory for a few technical reasons. It has been replaced by Template:YouTubeEmbed. As a related issue, the embedding of youtube videos on larger pages was leading to loading issues, due to their extremely large load size, so the new template requires approval for use. This template is broken and has been superseded by Template:YouTubeEmbed. Keeping it does not discourage users from using it and does not improve discoverability of the new template. SatoMew 15:46, 25 April 2015 (UTC)
- Seconding; I support deletion. However, all the articles currently using this template would have to be fixed first, which will probably take a while.
- To speed up this process, would anyone support replacing the "This video is not available on Bulbapedia" text with specific text saying that the template is outdated and should be replaced if any editor sees it? (It would probably also have to include the disclaimer that Template:YouTubeEmbed requires approval first before using, so editors can't just do a 1-for-1 replacement everywhere.)
