Shouldn't this say ''"Starting with Gen V, if this Pokémon has Storm Drain, the effectiveness of  Water-type  moves is 0×."''? Storm Drain's damage nullifying effect wasn't present in Gen IV. --[[User:GARY-DOS|GARY-DOS]] ([[User talk:GARY-DOS|talk]]) 03:45, 16 June 2015 (UTC)

Currently lists a species of sea slug that doesn't really look much like Gastrodon - Nembrotha kubaryana [https://i.pinimg.com/originals/d6/9b/6f/d69b6fca50a1618c97426fadefbc4c5d.jpg] would look to be a far better choice for the East Sea (same colour, pattern...). West Sea is harder, but Nembrotha Yonowae [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nembrotha_yonowae#/media/File:Nembrotha_yonowae_(3165770279).jpg] is pink with spots. == Gastrodon's Chinese name ==

Anyone have a suggestion as to why it might be pink-brown and blue-green?
The page currently lists it as 海牛獸 Hǎi Niú Shòu (lit. "sea cow beast"), but the three official Pokémon websites written in Chinese ([https://www.pokemon.cn/play/pokedex/423 China], [https://hk.portal-pokemon.com/play/pokedex/423 Hong Kong], [https://tw.portal-pokemon.com/play/pokedex/423 Taiwan]) all list its Chinese name as 海兔獸 Hǎi Tù Shòu (lit. "sea rabbit beast"). Does anyone know if this is changed from its previous name (and if so, when?), or if the previous name was just incorrect? Just curious.

East Sea Gastrodon in the anime

Would it be worth noting that East Sea Gastrodon is the only Generation IV Pokémon (with the obviously exception of Porygon-Z) that has yet to make any kind of appearance in the anime (as all the others have appeared in the series and/or movies)? Watchermark 15:57, 6 November 2009 (UTC)

Name Origin

How sure are you that the 'don' part of Gastrodon's name comes from the Spanish honorific? I feel like it's more likely that the name comes from Gastrodonta, a genus of land snails. The only reason that might not be the case is that Gastrodonta are land snails while Gastrodon is very obviously a water snail. --Mamthew42 21:25, 15 July 2010 (UTC)

Third Eye?

How can we be certain that the dark whet circle with a dark border in the middle of its forehead is actually an eye and not just part of its body?Leaf494 18:27, 5 August 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, that doesn't look like an eye to me at all. I think I'll remove that bit. --ZestyCactus 18:48, 5 August 2010 (UTC)
I'd have to agree. I've never seen anyone mention a third eye over the last four years. It looks more like a charm to me. --HoennMaster 23:14, 5 August 2010 (UTC)

plus it did not go swirly when defeated Ataro 23:25, 5 August 2010 (UTC)

I was the one who added in the bit about the third eye. If this is the case, then DP186 needs to be edited. It lists in the errors section that "the third eye" did not go swirly. Based on the fact that it is identical to its other two eyes, I'd be less willing to believe it is a charm.--PhantomJunkie 23:51, 5 August 2010 (UTC)
Okay, never mind, it has already been deleted.--PhantomJunkie 23:52, 5 August 2010 (UTC)
That dot looks identical to its other two eyes. Hence the whole thing about it having a third eye. - unsigned comment from Missingno. Master (talkcontribs) 00:01, 6 August 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, I really think that if it was meant to be a charm or something, they would have made it look different from its two eyes. It's a little bigger, but that's not enough evidence to make be believe it isn't an eye.--PhantomJunkie 05:39, 7 August 2010 (UTC)

Anime Errors

Ok, almost everytime a Gastrodon has appeared, the animators have made a mistake with the coloration of its forehead. I was wondering if this was trivia worthy? --HoennMaster 23:17, 5 August 2010 (UTC)

Type Effectiveness

  • If this Pokémon has Storm Drain, the effectiveness of Water-type moves is 0×.

Shouldn't this say "Starting with Gen V, if this Pokémon has Storm Drain, the effectiveness of Water-type moves is 0×."? Storm Drain's damage nullifying effect wasn't present in Gen IV. --GARY-DOS (talk) 03:45, 16 June 2015 (UTC)

Origin

Currently lists a species of sea slug that doesn't really look much like Gastrodon - Nembrotha kubaryana [1] would look to be a far better choice for the East Sea (same colour, pattern...). West Sea is harder, but Nembrotha Yonowae [2] is pink with spots. SJ (talk) 13:06, 4 November 2018 (UTC)
