Release information
This card was included in the Diamond & Pearl expansion with artwork by Ken Sugimori, first released in the Japanese Space-Time Creation expansion. It was later included in the Torterra Half Deck of the Japanese Entry Pack. In Japan, the card was reprinted as a promotional mini card as part of a 7-Eleven Poké Ball Lottery campaign in March 2007. This version, measuring 4.5cm × 6.5cm, was randomly packaged with certain 7-Eleven products in select stores. Also in March 2007, a Cosmos Holofoil variant of this print was one of the cards available in the US 2007 Spring Collector's Tins as a special sneak preview before the actual release of the expansion. It was subsequently released outside the US in Special Edition Blisters later that year.
The card was later reprinted as a DP Black Star Promo with different artwork by Masakazu Fukuda. It was released in June 2007 in Diamond & Pearl Blisters. The Japanese version was released through a Meiji Chocolate promotion in February 2007. It was reprinted again in POP Series 6 with different artwork by Masakazu Fukuda. The Japanese version was available as part of the Trade Please DP event held at venues hosting the 25th Next Generation World Hobby Fair in January and February 2007. Visitors could trade any 1 Pokémon card (including International cards and Japanese cards with a classic reverse) with attendants present at the Pokémon booth for 1 of 8 promotional cards at random. Promotional cards, Trainer cards, and Energy cards were specifically excluded from the trade. Cosmos Holofoil variants of the POP Series 6 print were released in June 2008 in Starter Blister Packs, and again in August 2008 in the Diamond & Pearl Collection. A promotional Mirror Reverse Holofoil print with a "Diamond & Pearl" stamp was also released as part of a Burger King promotion in July 2008.
The card was reprinted yet again in POP Series 8 with different artwork by Masakazu Fukuda, the Japanese version available through a McDonald's promotion in May 2007. A limited Cosmos Holofoil variant of the Diamond & Pearl print featuring a gold foil globe with "New York 08" in the bottom right corner of the artwork was given to attendees of the 2008 Pokémon USA annual distributor meeting in New York. Regular Cosmos Holofoil variants of the Diamond & Pearl print were available again in the Classic Trio Boxes in January 2009, as well as being made available in several European countries as part of various Summer tour events taking place between July and October 2009.
During the Sword & Shield Series, a Jumbo version of the Diamond & Pearl print was one of three cards available in copies of the Sinnoh First Partner Pack, released on July 9, 2021 to commemorate the 25th Anniversary of the Pokémon franchise. This print features a foil Pokémon 25th Anniversary logo in the bottom right corner of the illustration window.
