That seems too general though. I think the best think is to say hamsters and gerbils. ::::Any chance that it could be, in part, based on a computer mouse? It can plug its tail in, and it's an electric rodent. It seems fairly likely in my mind. Also, the fact that its tail, acts like a wire, and its artwork, in my opinion, makes it look like it's about to chew its own tail, could reference the fact that hamsters, gerbils, and other rodents are notorious for chewing through wires and cables. Just thought. Could Dedenne possibly be a final rendering of the prototype Pokémon - Prototype Pokémon and characters. They have made unused prototype Pokémon into real Pokémon many times before. Although Honōguma was supposedly going to be the Fire-type starter of Generation II, they changed the original typing, and design of Stunfisk, so I can't see why it wouldn't be possible that Dedenne is actually the finalised version of Honōguma.--ShinyPatch (talk) 23:56, 13 August 2013 (UTC)
:Officially, no speculation is allowed. Unofficially, I disagree because I don't see any resemblance beyond what all Pikaclones have in common; also note that Honoguma's name indicates it is a bear, which is nothing like Dedenne. Also, please use link templates instead of . Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 00:26, 14 August 2013 (UTC)

On a side note, Dedenne is also the smallest Electric rodent there's ever been. Pikachu, Plusle and Minun, Pachirisu and Emolga are the same size, Pichu is smaller, and Dedenne is even smaller. Might be because it's a fairy type. --Unbirth (talk) 23:16, 15 August 2013 (UTC)

So, Dedenne seems to be the only Pikaclone whose Hidden Ability doesn't give it immunity to Electric moves. The Pichu line and Plusle get Lightning Rod, Minun and Pachirisu get Volt Absorb, and Emolga gets Motor Drive, whereas Dedenne gets Plus. I'd have added it right away, only I'm not entirely sure how to phrase it. Hamster ?
Seeing as its got a tail, I think it's more of a Gerbil rather than a Hamster. --Unbirth (talk) 19:40, 8 August 2013 (UTC)
- The face and body scream hamster far more than gerbil, but the tail is obviously gerbil. I think it would be best to say it draws inspiration from both rodents. GreatLiver (talk) 22:12, 8 August 2013 (UTC)
- I see it as more of a Raichu with whiskers. Maybe we should say that's what it's based on. Me, Hurray! (talk) 22:54, 8 August 2013 (UTC)
- Why would a Pokémon be based on another Pokémon? Technically yes there are the typical Pikachu-type clones, but that's already in the trivia. I agree that it is probably based on both hamster and gerbil, since hamsters obviously don't have that kind of tail. Another safe bet would be to just say that it's based on domesticated rodents. Just thought. Could Dedenne possibly be a final rendering of the prototype Pokémon - Honōguma. They have made unused prototype Pokémon into real Pokémon many times before. I would remove the word cute off the trivia, but I wanna discuss it first. TheBlazikenMaster (talk) 16:26, 1 December 2013 (UTC)
- I don't like the trivium altogether (it's a fan classification and should instead be relegated to Appendix:Fan terminology), but nobody else seems to agree with me. Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 17:55, 1 December 2013 (UTC)
- I'm not removing the trivia altogether, however I'm removing the word "cute" since an opinionated word like that does not belong on a site that's meant to be a Pokémon encyclopedia.
- If anyone objects, I'll gladly discuss. TheBlazikenMaster (talk) 20:21, 3 December 2013 (UTC)
Possible trivia item
So, Dedenne seems to be the only Pikaclone whose Hidden Ability doesn't give it immunity to Electric moves. The Pichu line and Plusle get Lightning Rod, Minun and Pachirisu get Volt Absorb, and Emolga gets Motor Drive, whereas Dedenne gets Plus. I'd have added it right away, only I'm not entirely sure how to phrase it. I get the feeling that "Pikaclone" isn't the term Bulbapedia uses for, well, Pikaclones, y'know? - unsigned comment from Missingno. Master (talk • contribs) 19:01, 8 March 2014 (UTC)
- It's really not notable. This "group" is much too small for this kind of trivia. Crystal Talian 19:10, 8 March 2014 (UTC)
