I have this theory that Deino is based on American emo fashion and emo music due to his hair resembling long, wispy bangs (a trademark of the emo style) the color scheme of black, dark blue, and magenta (all associated with anger, sadness, and angst) and the fact that he is covered in wounds (emo teenagers usually try to look tortured and depressed). His Dark typing (emos usually wear black and other dark colors) and the fact that he learns Hyper Voice (emo culture is often centered around music) could also contribute to this.

Deino's trivia / origin entries could be updated with an excerpt from the following Ken Sugimori quote from the May 2011 issue of Nintendo Dream Magazine (referring to the whole Deino family):

“Originally, their design incorporated an army tank motif, and the patterns that resemble treads above Zweilous’ legs are leftovers of that early design concept. Initially, the designs weren’t really working, so we put them on ice — but later, when orders came down for a powerful three-stage Dragon type, they were resurrected. In the latter half of development, there was some discussion about changing them to a color that was underrepresented in the Pokedex. So from the list of colors we were considering, I chose a strong purple. Hydreigon’s design is based on the Yamata no Orochi, but when we gave it so many heads it was actually a bit off-putting. So we changed his design, giving him just one head — but if you see his silhouette, he still has the appearance of possessing many heads. The two heads on Hydreigon’s sides are actually just hands, and don’t contain any brains of their own.”

"Mono" is derived from one, the amount of heads the Pokémon currently has.

Monozu and its evolutionary line may be based upon the Lernaean Hydra of Greek Mythology, a beast that grew two more heads in its place if one was severed.

you can add it to the article itself you know...Ataro 00:38, 29 September 2010 (UTC)

Egg Cycles

It seems that Deino eggs require 41 cycles to hatch, form my own ingmae experience and other websites (Psypoke, Serebii and others). I'd rather not mess up the page with my non-existent experience at editing, so if someone wants to change that... You should also delete the trivia part about it "Deino is the only pseudo-legendary that requires 21 cycles to hatch", or whatever. Xel 07:39, 26 April 2011 (UTC)

In future, add your info at the bottom of the page in a new section, unless it is related to other info. Use the + button next to edit to do this. Edited.Mattrules161 10:39, 26 April 2011 (UTC)

Thanks, I'll do that next time =) Xel 17:55, 26 April 2011 (UTC)

Unusual Ability...

Recently, I received in a trade a Shiny Deino...with the ability Truant. However, everywhere I've looked, it has clearly stated YOU CANNOT GET A DEINO WITH TRUANT. His game was not hacked, although he had a handful of Meloetta from a friend's R4, as he proved to me due to the Meloetta all being traded onto his game. He bred and hatched the Deino himself. So, is this information this site is lacking, or is his game hacked? If it CAN legally possess Truant, that may lead to multiple edits. And yes, I can probably provide proof, should I get access to a digital camera without my parents knowing I own Pokemon White, considering both are heavily anti-Pokemon. Yeah, not legal. Since your friend had been trading hacked Melloetta onto his game, they likely came from the same place. --SnorlaxMonster 12:46, 1 August 2011 (UTC)
I must admit, when he showed me the Shiny Victini with catch record, I was sceptical. Now a Shiny Deino with Truant with a full breed record (although I admit I didn't know about the strange ability until yesterday). He seems to be able to get a shiny of everything through breeding, and trades them for TCG cards. Thanks for the explanation, Snorlax. StreetFlare 06:08, 2 August 2011 (UTC)

Deino's inspiration

I have this theory that Deino is based on American emo fashion and emo music due to his hair resembling long, wispy bangs (a trademark of the emo style) the color scheme of black, dark blue, and magenta (all associated with anger, sadness, and angst) and the fact that he is covered in wounds (emo teenagers usually try to look tortured and depressed). His Dark typing (emos usually wear black and other dark colors) and the fact that he learns Hyper Voice (emo culture is often centered around music) could also contribute to this.

Emos are far from the only counterculture to sport long hair, dark colors and aggressive tendencies. I've always seen the hair to be a spiked helmet, personally. glikglak 18:40, 5 June 2015 (UTC)
