Distribution in the United States ran from May 23 to June 12, 2014. In Canada, distribution ran from August 28 until September, 2014 where each toy came with two cards. Distribution In Australia ran throughout August and September. A different toy was available each week, but the Blastoise, Venusaur, Charizard and Mewtwo figures were not included in the promotion.

All of the toys function the same way. They are formed to play out as a rock paper scissors game. On every toy, there is a turner to change the symbol of a circle, triangle or square. When placing the Pokémon inside the Poké Ball, squeezing the ball causes the Pokémon to shoot outward. The winner is determined by what shape they picked.
Using the McDonald's McPlay Power mobile app, toys based on characters such as Pikachu, Venusaur, Froakie, Chespin, Xerneas and Charizard can be scanned to unlock mini-games.
