If encountered with the Mew glitch, with a stat of 191, the game will freeze or crash.

The reason why it crash the game, is due to it setting to a invalid sound bank, which is due to that 4 4's (invalid) front sprite is unusually huge (256x256), which causes it to overflow from RAM to SRAM which then corrupt the current sound bank identifier address into invalid sound banks. Since invalid sound banks (usually) crashes, 4 4 will (usually) crash due to that. It could actually be encountered without crashing, which is by using the gameshark to prevent sound banks from ever changing (0108EFC0, 0108F0C0), and 4 4 could be encountered without crashing (since sound banks didn't change to invalid). But even doing that, the battle couldn't be continued forward due to the fact 4 4's sprite overflowing also corrupts address that RAM holds (http://datacrystal.romhacking.net/wiki/Pokémon_Red/Blue:RAM_map). Since 256x256 is a ultimately huge size, it could possibly corrupt the whole RAM, turning the whole game into gibberish.
The reason the game may crash is because 's front sprite is defined as 256×256 tiles, which causes it to overflow the sprite decompression buffer; for comparison, a normal Pokémon sprite is no larger than 7×7 tiles. Immediately following that buffer is the working memory for the sound engine; corrupting it causes the sound engine to draw upon invalid sound banks, which usually crashes the game. Even if the game doesn't crash, 's front sprite overwrites enough RAM to render normal gameplay impossible.

Encountering YGlitchNameBF.png in battle.

YGlitchNameBF.png is a dual-type 999/Normal Glitch Pokémon that is found in Pokémon Yellow. It can only be obtained via the Time Capsule exploit with Chikorita or by trading a ▶_A from Red and Blue. It occupies hexadecimal slot BF.

If encountered with the Mew glitch, with a stat of 191, the game will freeze or crash.

The reason the game may crash is because YGlitchNameBF.png's front sprite is defined as 256×256 tiles, which causes it to overflow the sprite decompression buffer; for comparison, a normal Pokémon sprite is no larger than 7×7 tiles. Immediately following that buffer is the working memory for the sound engine; corrupting it causes the sound engine to draw upon invalid sound banks, which usually crashes the game. Even if the game doesn't crash, YGlitchNameBF.png's front sprite overwrites enough RAM to render normal gameplay impossible.

YGlitchNameBF.png's cry in battle is part of the sound of the move Surf and variations of Pikachu's cries; however, in its summary it has the cry of a Rhydon, and when withdrawn or deposited at a PC its cry is a slowed-down version of the melody of Cinnabar Island. YGlitchNameBF.png's solid glitch screen makes using it in battle difficult, as the player won't be able to see the battle menu.
