Release information
Beginning with the Autumn 2011 Battle Roads, Victory Cup was awarded to those who won first, second, or third place at Battle Roads tournaments.
In Japan, it was awarded to the top three competitors from each league in each of the Victory Cup events held over the course of Battle Carnival 2011. The Battle Carnival took place at the Mydome Osaka, Osaka on November 5 and 6, 2011, and at Sunshine City, Tokyo on November 19 and 20, 2011. A total of 6 First, Second and Third Place awards had been given out in the Battle Carnival 2011 event.
It was awarded again in the same manner (3 Leagues) to the top three competitors of the World Challenge Tournament events held over the course of Battle Carnival 2012 Spring. The Battle Carnival 2012 Spring took place at the Sendai Sun Plaza, Sendai on May 3, 2012; at Pacifico Yokohama, Yokohama between May 12-13, 2012; at Port Messe Nagoya, Nagoya on May 20, 2012; and at Intex Osaka, Osaka on June 3, 2012. A total of 12 First, Second and Third Place awards had been given out for the Battle Carnival 2012 Spring event.
For Battle Carnival 2012 Autumn, the card was awarded to the top three competitors in the Junior League and in the Open League of the Victory Cup 2012 events. The Battle Carnival took place at AXES Sapporo, Sapporo on November 4, 2012; at Intex Osaka, Osaka on November 17, 2012; and at the Tokyo International Exhibition Center, Tokyo between November 23-24, 2012. A total of 6 First, Second and Third Place awards had been given out for the Battle Carnival 2012 Autumn event.
Four leagues were present in the Battle Carnival 2013 Spring World Challenge Tournament events, with these cards awarded to the top three competitors from each one. The Battle Carnival took place at the Fukuoka International Congress Center, Fukuoka on May 4, 2013; at the Nagoya Trade & Industry Center, Nagoya on May 12, 2013; at Makuhari Messe, Chiba on May 18 and 19, 2013; and at Intex Osaka, Osaka on May 26, 2013. A total of 16 First, Second and Third Place awards had been given out for the Battle Carnival 2013 Spring event.
To progress to the final 'Climax Stage' in each of the events, players had to accumulate as many consecutive wins at the 'Premier Stage' as possible, a prerequisite of which was three/four consecutive wins at the initial 'Challenge Stage'. When the allocated time for the 'Challenge Stage' ended, the top four/sixteen/eight players in terms of consecutive 'Premier Stage' wins were eligible to enter the knockout 'Climax Stage'.

Trivia
- Based on the number of tournaments held during the Battle Carnival period between 2011-2013, there is an estimate of 40 First Place awards, 40 Second Place awards and 40 Third place awards given out to top competitors.
- This card's effect matches that of the most recent print of Poké Ball.
- Other than the top ranking cards awarded at the TCG World Championships (which are only printed in English), Victory Cup was the first 'trophy card' to be released in English before Japanese.
- The illustrations for Victory Cup take inspiration from the top ranking cards awarded over the course of the 2000, 2001, and 2002 competitive seasons in Japan, in that more Pokémon are present in the illustration as the rank increases.
