The Rainbow Foot (Japanese: 虹のふもと) is the first entry of the Japanese Illust Story web series. It tells the story of Pikachu V from the 25th Anniversary Collection, illustrated by HYOGONOSUKE. The story was first published on October 22, 2021 and is written by Aya Satsuki.

Blurb

The last day of the rainy season has arrived. In this here plain, there is a bridge that can always be seen on this day that shines in rainbow colors. Today, as one reaches the shining foot of it, they'll find a Pikachu who exerts its energy and releases crackling electricity from its whole body! What even is at the foot of the bridge? Pikachu storms forth at a speed that can reach above the sky.

梅雨明けの日がやってきた。この平原では、この日に必ず七色のキラキラした橋が見られる。今日こそあのキラキラのふもとにたどり着いてみせると、ピカチュウが気合を入れると、体中からバチバチとほうでんした！橋のふもとには、何があるんだろう。空の上まで届きそうな速度で、ピカチュウは駆け出していく。

Plot

The long rain had stopped, and sunlight was gradually shining through the dimly lit forest. Pikachu, which had been curled up still in its cave, felt the warm sunlight and looked up. I saw something sparkling in the gap between the trees. What on earth could it be? Pikachu, who had been cooped up for a long time, jumped out of the cave, excited to see something sparkling for the first time in a long time. The sun shining through the trees seemed to make even Pikachu's body shine. Perhaps because of its excited running, Pikachu gets stuck in several puddles and is startled by a splash, causing the Pokémon lurking in the grass to look up. It's a cheerful Pikachu, I think, a little dismayed, but smiling, and I slowly drift off to sleep again. Pikachu was so engrossed that it ran through the forest toward the exit. As it passed through the forest, the dimly lit landscape suddenly opened up. It was dazzling, Pikachu squinted its eyes. Blue sky, big iridescent clouds standing like cotton candy. In the midst of it all, Pikachu spotted a light shining in seven different colors. It was a big, shiny, seven-colored bridge that crossed over the mountain. Had we seen something like that before? Maybe it was a special present brought by the long rain. Pikachu's eyes sparkled like that light. At that moment, Pikachu felt a tingling electric current in his cheek. Yes, it had been in the forest for a long time and had a lot of electricity built up in its body. Pikachu shook its head as hard as he could! As Pikachu bounced around, happy to feel lighter and lighter, it came up with a great idea! Let's take a closer look at that sparkle! As soon as it thinks of it, Pikachu starts running. The cool, slightly wet grass felt good. But no matter how fast it ran, the sparkle never seemed to get any closer. Pikachu thought it was strange, but it did not stop running. I wonder what is at the foot of that sparkle. His heart pounded in his chest... Then I heard someone approaching from behind me. When I turned around, there stood the Pokémon of the forest who were waiting for the weather to clear, just like Pikachu. 長い雨も止み、薄暗かった森に日の光が少しずつ差し込んでいく。洞穴で一匹、じっと丸まっていたピカチュウが、温かな日差しを感じて顔を上げた。 木々の切れ間に、キラキラ輝く何かが見えた。いったいなんだろう。ずっと閉じこもっていたピカチュウは、久々のきらめきに胸を躍らせ、洞穴を飛び出す。木漏れ日がピカチュウの身体まで輝かせてくれるようだ。興奮して走っているせいか、いくつも水たまりにはまり、水しぶきに驚き、草むらに潜んでいたポケモンたちが顔を上げる。元気なピカチュウだな、と、ちょっと呆れて、でも微笑んで、またゆっくりと眠りにつく。 ピカチュウは夢中になって森の出口目指して駆け抜けた。森を抜けると、薄暗かった景色が一気に開ける。まぶしい、とピカチュウは目を細めた。青い空、わたあめのようにたたずむ大きな入道雲。そんな中に、ピカチュウは七色に輝く光を見つけた。山を越えるほどの大きな、キラキラ光る七色の橋。あんなもの、前にもあったかな？　長い雨が運んできた、とくべつなプレゼントなのかもしれない。ピカチュウの目はあの光のようにキラキラと輝いた。 その時、ピカチュウの頬にピリッと電流が走る。そうだ、ずっと森の中にいて、身体の中に電気がたくさんたまっていた。ピカチュウは思い切り、ほうでんした！　軽くなった身体が嬉しくてぴょんぴょんと跳ねるうち、とびっきりのアイディアを思い付いた！ もっと、あのキラキラを近くで見てみよう！思いついてすぐに、ピカチュウは走り出す。うっすら濡れた冷たい草原が気持ちがいい。けれど、走っても走っても、あのキラキラはちっとも近づいたように見えなかった。おかしいなあ、と思いながらも、ピカチュウは走るのをやめない。あのキラキラのふもとには、一体何があるんだろう。胸がドキドキと高鳴った。 だが、丘の中腹に行き当たったところで、キラキラは蜃気楼のようにすうっと空に消えてしまう。思わずピカチュウは足を止め、息の上がった身体で、少しだけ俯いた。せっかく長雨を我慢したのだ。もう少し、ごほうびをくれてもいいのに……。 すると、背後から誰かが近づいてくる音が聞こえてきた。振り返るとそこには、ピカチュウと同じように晴れるのを待っていた森のポケモンたちが立っている。 あのキラキラの橋は消えてしまったけれど、みんなとのキラキラな毎日は、これからも、ずっとつづく。 さっきのキラキラ、すっごく綺麗だったね！君も見てたの？目を輝かせる仲間と共に、ピカチュウは森に帰っていった。今度あの七色の橋が出た時は、みんなで一緒に、走ってふもとを見に行こう。 Trivia External links Official webpage References This article is part of Project TCG, a Bulbapedia project that aims to report on every aspect of the Pokémon Trading Card Game.
