| In the episode ''[[EP261|Here's Lookin' at You, Elekid]]'', James is pushed into trading his old {{TP|James|Victreebel}} for a Weepinbell by [[Jessie]] and {{MTR}} after the [[Magikarp salesman]] cons them by saying they can use its {{m|Sweet Scent}} to capture Pokémon.

| Later in the episode this {{p|Weepinbell}} evolves into {{p|Victreebel}}, and it tries to gobble [[Jessie]] (much like the previous Victreebel did with James). This causes her to command [[Jessie's Arbok|her Arbok]] to send the Flycatcher Pokémon flying. At the same time the Magikarp salesman realizes that James's original Victreebel will not obey him, and he abandons it. The two Victreebel meet, fall in love, and skip off into the forest.
