We already saw another Lugia in the anime, so thus, the fact that this Lugia was under "anime" would be confusing.--CosmosShipper

It's under a Different name, But either ways, It wouldn't matter --Force Fire 12:26, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
Speaking of Silver, I added in that the Lugia in this article was briefly mentioned by James and Ash encountered Silver for the first time. Weedle Mchairybug 23:56, 16 June 2008 (UTC)

Gender

I don't think Lugia's gender should be "none" since it's unknown if genderless Pokemon apply in the anime, and therefore, not 100% confirmed. In fact i think it's very unlikely that it's genderless since there was a female (mother) Lugia in the series, so it should be "Unknown" (GT4GTR 11:11, 16 June 2008 (UTC))

The problem is that anyone coming here seeking information on Lugia might see "unknown" and thing they can breed their Lugia. unless it is confirmed otherwise we should go on the information we have on its species and that information says that Lugia has no gender. lord mada 12:19, 12 August 2008 (UTC)
I understand what you mean but to me, "none" means they don't have the ability to breed. Of course there are Pokémon like Solrock and Ditto that are genderless but they can only reproduce their own species with another Ditto. Lugia can't breed with Ditto. Unknown is more accurate because another Lugia is shown to be able to breed. Plus, we have no idea how genders work in the animé.

I originally came to this talk page to ask why Lugia from the 2nd movie isn't considered male when Entei from the 3rd movie is. Both this Lugia and Entei have a male voice. Mewtwo also has a distinctive male voice but people seem to get upset when anyone calls him male. I personally believe all 3 Pokémon are male but if Entei is considered male because of his voice and Mewtwo and Lugia are considered unknown gender, i think something needs to be changed. --いぬみみ 23:47, 12 September 2008 (UTC)

Aeroblast?

how do we know its not hyper beam? --Mooites Talk to me, baby! 23:50, 12 September 2008 (UTC)

looks like hyper beam to me----UltamateCharizard 22:41, 5 December 2008 (UTC)
There's no proof that it's Aeroblast unless someone actually ASKS Nintendo or whoever made the movie. If you're going to leave Aeroblast there, put a question mark by it. Kiryu 21:22, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
The effects are rather different than Hyper beam. IN Hyper beam they charge up a ball of energy then fire it as a beam. When Lugia used Aeroblast, a nuch of seperate beams shot out of its mouth and then converged into one. That differs too much to be Hyper beam. It's Aeroblast. Reign 02:40, 26 September 2009 (UTC)

Definitely not Aeroblast

For some reason you people dont like me contributing to past discussions so I'm posting my answer to the post directly above. Compare Aeroblast used by another Lugia (a blue beam) with the one used by this Lugia (golden). There is no way they are the same attack and it is obviously a dramatic Hyper Beam. Toon Ganondorf (t c) 08:04, 17 October 2011 (UTC)

Movies have different animations for attacks. For example, Flamethrower is usually a stream of red-orange fire, but when Entei uses it, it's more violety in color. And Fire Blast is usually star-shaped, but Entei uses an orb of pink flames. Littlmiget123 13:18, 17 October 2011 (UTC)
its defo aeroblast, thats how it looked in gold and silver, (see the other gens section). And moves can look different during the same gen (though the first aeroblast is actually from gen i. Vuvuzela2010 16:55, 17 October 2011 (UTC)

Hoopa and the Clash of Ages

Is the Lugia from that movie this very same Lugia? When Hoopa summoned it through the Hoopa Ring to battle Hoopa Unbound, Ash recognized Lugia and asked it to help, like he knew it. And it didn't exactly argue, being more than willing to go in and fight Hoopa Unbound despite being just thrown into a random situation. It also takes every action it can to protect Ash, very much like the Lugia from the second film.--Darknesslover5000 (talk) 09:20, 17 November 2015 (UTC)

Could be Silver or his mum :P. --Spriteit (talk) 04:30, 20 November 2015 (UTC)
Thing is Ash's reaction and how Lugia protected to him do seem to imply Ash had met it before but he had the same interactions with Rayquaza and the Latis; he has never met a shiny Rayquaza and the only Latios he has met either belonged to a trainer or died. I think we should leave it Diamond Lanturn CodeName: 05308 16:19, 20 November 2015 (UTC)
I don't think there has been any official confirmation one way or the other, so we can't put it on Bulbapedia either way. Personally, since events or characters from past regions are very rarely mentioned or alluded to in future regions, I think they'd make a point of saying so in the movie somewhere if it was the same Lugia.
