Darkrai and Cresselia are known as the subconscious duo because of how Darkrai is said to give people nightmares, while Cresselia does the opposite, and give people pleasant dreams. Furthermore, Cresselia and Darkrai also appear in {{g|Mystery Dungeon 2}} as enemies. They will both make their anime debuts in [[DP104]].

Manaphy and Phione are both sea-angel-remnicent Pokémon, share similar species names (Seafaring and Sea Drifter), and both only obtained from one of two events, the first available is through egg (Ranger game event for Manaphy egg, breed Manaphy for Phione egg), and second is moderate level (Toys 'R' Us event for Manaphy, store 250 Pokémon in My Pokémon Ranch for Phione.) In both cases, Phione is relatively easier to obtain.
