They wouldn't make a point of highlighting that if Remoraid was based off a larva. Origin
In the trivia section, it says that Remoraid bears no relation to Octillery, evolving from a fish to an octopus. However, I'm not sure Remoraid is entirely based on a fish. Based on the shape of it's body, it appears to also be, at least partly, based on an octopus larva. This would explain why it evolves into an octopus. Here is an image of an octopus larva for comparison: Octopus Larva. Note how the shape of it's body is similar to Remoraid's.--Gioku 01:20, 10 August 2011 (UTC)
