Verndanturf Town (Japanese: ? Shidake Town) is a small, pretty town in central Hoenn. It's motto is "The Windswept Highlands with the Sweet Fragrance of Grass".
The way the winds blow, volcanic ash from Mt. Ember never blows through the town. The air is clean and fragrant, and supposedly does wonders for frail and sickly people.
There is a woman who rates the Happiness of Pokémon in the south of the town.
Wally is sent to Verdanturf Town to live with his cousin, Wanda, and his aunt and uncle.
Pokémon Coordinators flock to the town for Pokémon Contests. All Contest challenges originate in Verdanturf, and it's home to the Normal Rank Pokémon Contest Registration where Pokémon Coordinators can register their Contest Passes.
There are two ways out of Verdanturf. East is Route 117 and Mauville City after that.
To the north is the Rusturf Tunnel, which was being constructed to link Rustboro City and Verdantuf. However, the construction disturbed the local Whismur who lived in the tunnel, so construction was canceled. Wanda's boyfriend tried to dig the tunnel himself, but was unable to do it. After the main character of Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, and Pokémon Emerald gets the Dynamo Badge, they can use Rock Smash to complete the tunnel and open a path to Route 116.
