Nookipedia, originally known as Animal Crossing Wiki, is a wiki devoted to Nintendo's Animal Crossing game series. It was originally two separate wikis with one independent and the other hosted by Wikia.
History
The wiki has a split history. Some time in 2010, an Animal Crossing wiki hosted on Animal Crossing Forums was founded. However, problems caused the wiki to be moved to its own domain. Another wiki was founded in August 2005 on Wikia under the name Animal Crossing City. Shortly after its fifth year anniversary, Wikia made a new skin, 'Oasis', mandatory. Many wikis left Wikia, including Animal Crossing City. Originally going to move to ShoutWiki, which did happen for a short while, the director of the wiki contacted the NIWA forums (of which the independent wiki was affiliated with). Animal Crossing City later decided to merge with the aforementioned Animal Crossing Wiki to form the wiki that exists today. On December 31, 2010, the wiki changed its name to Nookipedia, a portmanteau of their mascot Tom Nook (a main character in the game) and encyclopaedia.
