Welcome to Bulbapedia, GamerGeek!
Bulbapedia bulb.png

By creating your account you are now able to edit pages, join discussions, and expand the community-driven Pokémon encyclopedia. Before you jump in, here are some ground rules:

  • Be nice to everyone. It's in the code of conduct.
  • Make good edits. Preview them before you save to make sure they're perfect the first time around.
  • Use wikicode and link templates when adding content to a page.
  • Use proper grammar and spelling, and read the manual of style.
  • You can't create a userpage until you've added to the encyclopedia. It's a privilege. See the userspace policy.
  • Use talk pages to resolve editing disputes. Don't "edit war," or constantly re-edit/undo the same thing on a page.
  • If you have a question about something, be proactive. Take a look at our FAQ. If you're still stuck, ask for help. The staff won't bite.
  • Sign all talk page posts with four tildes (~~~~). This will turn into your name and the time you wrote the comment.
  • For more handy links, see the welcome portal.
Thank you, and have a good time editing here!

Copyright violation

Please, do not, under any circumstances, link to any unofficial sites that allow you to view Pokemon episodes. That's illegal and it can get us in trouble. Ataro (talk) 00:03, 20 December 2012 (UTC)

Really? There's no mention of that in any Bulbapedia policies I've read. GamerGeek 00:11, 20 December 2012 (UTC)
There shouldn't have to be, it's illegal for it to be on the unofficial sites anyway, and as a result, it should be common sense not to link to them. The only sites that are allowed to show the anime include the official website, as well as Cartoon Network, or any of the other television channels that air the show. --Spriteit (talk) 01:31, 20 December 2012 (UTC)
So I can link to only these ones then? [1] [2] GamerGeek 02:57, 21 December 2012 (UTC)
Since they are official distributors I believe that would be okay, but it's probably best to just say 'the episode on the cartoon network webpage'. Just in case the links break or change. --Spriteit (talk) 03:03, 21 December 2012 (UTC)
Well, I personally prefer to have the link to the episode in question myself, just so that everyone can just watch and listen for themselves, and it makes it much easier to pinpoint what the subject matter is. Pokemon.com only has a few select episodes available about every week (including the 4Kids-dubbed ones, which is illegal since the site is owned by TPCi), and CN's site requires that you have an account there, along with your own TV network provider (which I don't have anymore). Oak's voice actor

I compared Professor Oak's voice from AG133 (Stan Hart's) and BW001 (Carter Cathcart's) with his voice in BW109. It definitely sounds like Carter Cathcart's. Go listen to them if you want :P. Stan Hart is credited only for voicing Cedric Juniper in this episode (he returned to the series with Cedric's role already in BW063). --Gabo 2oo (talk) 00:57, 23 April 2013 (UTC)

Editing other user's posts

Please don't edit other user's talk page messages like you did here. Even if the spelling/grammar is incorrect, it's still a violation of our talk page policy. Please keep this in mind during the future. Thank you. --Pokemaster97 00:42, 16 July 2013 (UTC)

Sorry about that; I just have a little OCD, and am a bit of a spelling/grammar freak. ^^; I'll try to remember that from now on. GamerGeek 00:52, 16 July 2013 (UTC)

Boom Reshiram.

Whoops. I accidently brought up Georgia's Bisharp here even though said reference was a joke. Bringing up that Georgia's Bisharp needs a page is a recurring joke. You are taking things WAAYYYYY too seriously. although i do believe that pokémon deserves a paeg woops --The Truth aka Relicant 13:58, 20 September 2013 (UTC)

Look, this is Bulbapedia. We don't have time (or patience) to tell jokes or goof around. So please, don't keep bringing it up again. GamerGeek 18:36, 20 September 2013 (UTC)

...and if that were true, my XY joke page would have been gone by now. Jokes are fine. There's nothing wrong with a joke now and again. In fact, why don't you point out the rule that states jokes and goofs aren't allowed. That should be a good test for you. --The Truth aka Relicant 09:49, 21 September 2013 (UTC)

The thing is, your history with wanting a "Georgia's Bisharp" article doesn't really make it a joke and comes off as being whiny. If you could name another example that isn't Georgia's Bisharp, then people won't be on your tail about this.--ForceFire 10:09, 21 September 2013 (UTC)

Could I also ask you to not bring up topics that have already been dealt with on my talk page? I'm not sure if you've checked but that convo ended early this morning. Thanks. --The Truth aka Relicant 21:07, 24 September 2013 (UTC)

The problem is that you and a few other users have been bickering for a while now, and none of you seem to be willing to comply with the rules or staff members. I know that you want to get a "fresh start" and all, but arguing isn't going to help. Also, I'd advise that you watch what you say in your edit summaries. GamerGeek 21:18, 24 September 2013 (UTC)
Relicant dropped it after my warning. Pumpkin did not and was blocked for a few days. Please do not randomly kick it back up again. Let the staff handle this, and please do not get involved any further. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 21:32, 24 September 2013 (UTC)

Userspace pages

I enjoy your interest in the mainspace-able userspace pages. Now, our approach about discussion for these pages has changed recently. We discuss them, in addition to Candidates for merging, splitting, moving, and deleting, in a thread on the forums. All users are welcome to comment on that thread. Feel free to drop a line there. (Additionally, I pay attention to discussions on the wiki to decide which weekly pages I choose. So keep that in mind too!) MaverickNate 22:45, 25 September 2013 (UTC)

I'm actually not registered on the forums, and I thought that that's what talk pages are for (though, linking to that thread on the talk page could work). GamerGeek 22:54, 25 September 2013 (UTC)
The thread was to have a more central place for discussion all at once. Bringing the spotlight to tons of articles at once in a convenient place, and getting the ball rolling for them. That thread on the forums was the reason why Colored orbs finally got moved after a year (and Forests after like 5.). It is what the talk pages are still used for. The forums just help. They are a useful place to be registered. MaverickNate 23:03, 25 September 2013 (UTC)

Credits

Credits do not usually say who voice who and thus are not a valid source for Voice Actor confirmation. You have sourced websites concerning voice actors, which is one of the valid way to confirm who voiced who. The other way is to contact Tom Wayland. So next time you add a voice actor, do not use the credits as a source as they are of no help.--ForceFire 01:01, 25 April 2014 (UTC)

The credits always list only the voice actors who worked on a particular episode (except for seasons 1-6). Using the list of names and going by process of elimination is one way of confirming the voice of a character(s). As for Tom Wayland, he's only worked on the anime from season 11 onwards; I don't think he can help out very much (if at all) with characters from older seasons. GamerGeek 17:48, 2 May 2014 (UTC)
That is akin to playing by ear, which you know is not acceptable. Who voiced who in older episodes are especially hard to get, I know, but you still can't use the credits or go by ear. You don't need to just contact Tom Wayland, you can contact other VA (if they have a social media account or a website) to get some info on who voiced who.--ForceFire 03:16, 3 May 2014 (UTC)
The problem is that many voice actors are hard to reach, as some don't have any means of being in contact with fans, or are just too busy to respond to all their email/messages. I have indeed gotten some confirmation from several voice actors themselves, but it's a rather inefficient method overall. GamerGeek 18:32, 6 May 2014 (UTC)
Well tough. You just have to keep trying and contact as many VA's as possible to get information. Just don't play by the credits.--ForceFire 02:53, 7 May 2014 (UTC)

Bianca (movie)

I noticed you had written on her discussion page that you wanted a screencap. Wish granted. Let us fight this tyranny together. Rosebr10 (talk) 05:56, 31 May 2014 (UTC)

Let's debate

Often in the case of characters with unknown VAs it tends to boil down to just two, locked in perpetual stalemate until a definitive breakthrough is unearthed. I would like to discuss some with you. I don't mean to come off as dominating, but rather believe in acting through cohesion.

A. Serena (Hoenn)

All I hear is Kerry Williams. I realize that Williams was successfully credited in an earlier episode in the season and was not credited here, but where has the argument that Eva Christensen being her arise from? Her voice seems too old to be from that type of character, and I haven't come across any roles of Christensen that come close to it.

B. Natalie (Hoenn)

This is another where I hear Kerry Williams loud and clear. Leah Applebaum is also known for being older-sounding (while coming off as flat in some line deliveries) and I feel that Natalie being her supposed Season 6 role was the wrong conclusion drawn from process of elimination. Instead I think she's...

C. Janet (Hoenn)

Now that is definitely more resembling of an Applebaum role, flatness and all. Does not sound the slightest thing like Hollingshead, perhaps garnered from the time when it was believed that she was also Officer Jenny and never updated. The receptionist in that episode appears to also be voiced by Applebaum.

D. Santa Claus

The credits for Stantler's Little Helpers includes "Alexander J. Rose" from the Season 2 credits. Process of elimination after applying known portrayals leaves us with him and Santa Claus. The voice is of the same type as "Holiday Hi-Jynx" (an episode in the range where Rose was credited), and Ed Paul has not demonstrated the ability to sound like that in any of his other roles.

Also, Dick Rodstein. Look him his work. You might be surprised at what you find.

E. Rebecca (Kanto)

F. Tyra (Kanto)

G. Lt. Surge's Female Henchman

Two words: Dogasu's Backpack. The prime nexus of all the earliest errors, past and present. Despite this I can't help but notice he did two things. 1) He completely forgot Mandy Bonhomme, and 2) He linked Surge's female henchman and Tyra together. I have spoken to Bonhomme, who I found had deconfirmed being Aya, but when I asked about Tyra, she neither affirmed nor denied that particular role.

H. Bianca (Movie)

Yeah, the Ortiz argument is a load of hooey. For someone so distinctive and easy to identify this somehow makes her a frequent target of misassociation.

I'd like to see the opposition come up with even one reason as to why this cannot be Tara. Should make for a fine lark. Rosebr10 (talk) 16:17, 19 June 2014 (UTC)

Hmmm...those are some good points you brought up, and it's good that you've been working hard on filling in the gaps in Project VA. Kenji-girl is the leader of the project, and since she hasn't been very active for the longest time, I've been helping out with looking over things in her place. That being said...
A. Serena - While it does sound like Kerry Williams, I doubt it's actually her since she had long left the series at the time. IIRC, her final role in the 4Kids dub was near the end of the fifth season (based on when she was last credited), and Serena appeared near the end of the seventh. As for Eva Christensen, she was much more active in voice-over around then, Serena's voice has a clear resemblance to her Ginrei voice, and surely enough, she was credited for her appearance roughly halfway into the following season. She even confirmed her roles in Pokémon in an email via her official website. Of course, it's possible that she may be mistaken, as she said that she's fuzzy on whether or not she voiced Serena. She's 90% positive that she did though, and it's much more likely that she just doesn't quite remember, which is understandable since it's an extremely minor character from nearly a decade ago. So in this case, unless you (or someone else) can present 100% fullproof, undeniable evidence that states otherwise, Eva's credit is staying.
B. Natalie - I have to agree that it's definitely not Leah Applebaum, but as I mentioned above, Kerry Williams hasn't provided any voices for the 4Kids dub past the fifth season, or at least hasn't been credited for any roles she may have done, so I'm not sure if it's her. I have no idea who else it could be though.
C. Janet - Indeed, this role was also previously miscredited. I suspect that it's Leah Applebaum as well, though a couple other female VAs come to mind, namely Jayne Grand and Amy Palant. I'm not 100% sure on this one myself, but Applebaum is a good guess.
D-F. I've never seen the Santa Claus episode, so I can't comment on that. As for Rebecca and Tyra, you haven't addressed anything with those two.
G. Lt. Surge's Female Henchman - While Dogasu's Backpack isn't a go-to source for everything Pokémon-related, he's very trustworthy in general, and I don't see any reason to doubt him here as well.
H. Bianca - This is where I completely agree with you 100%. Tara Jayne is credited for the movie, it's more or less the same young woman voice she uses repeatedly, and by process of elimination, there's no other character she could've voiced in the movie that I can think of. Heck, pretty much every other Pokémon and/or voice actor-related website says that it's her, so I think that there really shouldn't be any shadow of doubt, let alone a big argument over it, as with Charizard's gender. Unfortunately, Jo The Marten made it anonymous based on a "reliable source" of hers, so there's nothing any of us can do unless we get confirmation from Tara herself (I actually left a note on her Facebook page a while back, and I'm still waiting on her response). GamerGeek 22:36, 3 July 2014 (UTC)
I meant for E, F and G to all have the same explanation regarding Dogasu's Backpack (found after G), since they both apply there. As for what I think of them individually,

->E. Rebecca is yet another role wrongly associated with Ortiz. Listening to Giselle alone will tell you that it's her, and if you still aren't sure then just keep browsing through her others works until you hear it for yourself. The only reason I can ever see anyone screwing this one up is getting confused with the movie Rebecca that was indeed done by Ortiz despite being uncredited for it.

Also worth noting is the fact that she was the original voice of Brock's Vulpix, just one episode before Rebecca's appearance.

->F. As mentioned before, Banhomme is the one Season 1 actress that seemed to be thrown under the bus, but in my contact with her she states having only done additional roles. Even so, there were two Season 1 female roles that stuck out to me as being different: Aya and Tyra. Bonhomme has deconfirmed the former, but said nothing on the latter. However, I believe this is her infinitely more than Jayne because...
->G. Dogasu, despite his erroneous claims, can at least make the right connections. At the very least, it sounds nothing like Tara Jayne to even warrant the possibility.

While I'm here I think I'll add one more:

->I. Aya: Again, nothing like Ortiz in either of her appearances. I believe her to be Hollingshead (EP032) and Grand (EP176). I've tried to get in touch with both actresses, but I have yet to hear back from either of them (the latter's Twitter is pretty much a black hole, but at least she confirmed having done Kay by chance on her end).

For these and more explanations, you can always drop by my user page.

P.S.

A. Kerry Williams is indeed credited in AG052, and is just as easily noticeable in the role of that episode's referee as she is in any of her other roles. Rosebr10 (talk) 15:07, 5 July 2014 (UTC)
