Butterfree (Japanese: バタフリー Butterfree) is a Grass-type Stage 2 Pokémon card. It was first released as part of the Jungle expansion.

Remove a number of damage counters from Butterfree equal to half the damage done to the Defending Pokémon (after applying Weakness and Resistance) (rounded up to the nearest 10).

Release information

This card was included in the English Jungle expansion, first released in the Japanese Pokémon Jungle expansion. It was later reprinted in the English Base Set 2 expansion, and in the English Legendary Collection expansion.

Early prints of the 1st Edition version of this card were printed with a symbol that appeared to look like "Edition d" instead of "Edition 1" due to the presence of an ink bubble during printing.

Whirlwind and Mega Drain are both moves in the Pokémon games that Butterfree can learn. This card's English Pokédex entry comes from Pokémon Red and Blue, though it is slightly reworded. The Japanese entry comes from Pokémon Red and Green.
