Revelation Mountain (Japanese: テンケイ山 Revelation Mountain) is a mountain dungeon with an integral role in the plot of Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon, and is in fact visited twice within the story, during Chapters 9 and 16, with differences in the Pokémon that are found on both visits. As the mountain is treated as a sacred place that only the chosen may enter, the player cannot revisit this dungeon unless they visit it through Pelipper Island, after clearing said mountain both times. The version of the mountain visited at the island depends on when it was visited during the story.
The secret of Revelation Mountain
It is regarded as a forbidden and sacred place and to enforce that no one reaches the peak let alone enter the mountain, the Serene Village adults usually have guard duty. Also, it holds a secret that villagers in question seem to be aware of, however they refuse to elaborate about it when asked because it is to keep the spring, a small pond filled with special water known as Luminous Water that reverses the effects of Pokémon being turned into stone, found at the mountain's peak a secret from evil. Even if one should get by the security to the mountain's peak, they would need to overcome a barrier to access the spring, which can only be broken by a Pokémon that was from the human world.
First Expedition
Nuzleaf gets the idea to visit the mountain as days go by and the idea of waiting for the player to remember something about their past life bore no fruit. Nuzleaf then proceeds to take the player and the partner to the side while elaborating of going to Revelation Mountain in secret, much to the shock of the partner. Despite this, Nuzleaf explains why he's going there: he believes that the mountain is somehow linked to the reason of the player being made from a human to a Pokémon, even if it is just a feeling. However, he does plan to retreat if his plan should start going south. Nuzleaf then invites the duo to tag along, to which they do so.
After completing preparations to go to the mountain, the trio then head off to the entrance. At the gate, Hippopotas is guarding the way. Nuzleaf tells the player and partner that the adults take turns guarding the mountain's entrance, with the player bringing up the question of what to do if that' is the case. Nuzleaf then proceeds to walk up to Hippopotas and tells him that there was a "mistake in guard duty", which Hippopotas buys and happily walks off, giving Nuzleaf and his posse access to the mountain.
Sometime later, after scaling half of mountain, the trio come across yet another gate, but with much fiercer-looking security than Hippopotas, this being a Poliwrath, officers Magnemite, Magneton, and Magnezone, and a Beedrill. The trio soon realize how pointless of a cause it would be to try to fight their way through them, and had no choice but to turn back, the expedition being deemed a failure as no answers were given to the player about their memory.
Back at the village, they express their disappointment and Nuzleaf then has to go tell Hippopotas that the mix-up was a mistake within itself.
Second Expedition
Later, during the events of Chapter 16, after the player and partner are greeted by their ex-schoolmate Espurr in their return to Serene Village, Nuzleaf comes down the path in a hurry, demanding they head to Revelation Mountain immediately as some Pokémon he's never seen before is invading it, with the then-unknown Pokémon having easily torn through Nuzleaf's security, claiming that it happened so fast, Nuzleaf had no time to react. Nuzleaf then identifies the Pokémon to Archen, a member of the Expedition Society as "red, ornery-lookin', and looked like a crook." which turned out to be Krookodile. As the group heads toward the mountain, Espurr offers the player and partner her assistance, however the partner refuses by saying that Krookodile is a rather tough enemy, and instead tells her to warn Ampharos, if the player and partner fail to return from Revelation Mountain. With that, the four head off to the entrance gate.
At the gate, they find it completely in shambles. Archen then says as they were running to the mountain's entrance, Nuzleaf had let him know about the secret of the mountain that the villagers zealously guarded, which could be why Krookodile attacked Nuzleaf and tore through the mountain. They hurry along posthaste to the second half of the mountain. After arriving at the second gate, it turns out that the group of Pokémon that were guarding the higher part of the mountain were easily defeated by Krookodile and the second gate is just as damaged as the entrance gate. They are filled in on the situation, and then the four hurry along to pursue Krookodile.
Later, between the 10th and 11th floors of the sacred mountain, the group is still making headway until Archen and the player are contacted by Dedenne's team, known as the Prehistoric Ruins expedition team. Nuzleaf reacts in surprise, hearing voices coming from the gadgets, and the partner then explains to Nuzleaf where said voices are coming from. Archen replies in that they are able to hear Dedenne, and his team are currently scaling the sacred mountain in hot pursuit of Krookodile. Dedenne wonders what they are doing at a forbidden place like Revelation Mountain, but Archen doesn't have time to fill his teammate in on the details, and instead asks how Dedenne's team is doing.
Dedenne replies that things are going rather well on their end, having made it quite far through the Ruins, just then Bunnelby has found something, or someone rather. Then, Dedenne and their crew's communication go dead due to being attacked by an unknown assailant. No one seems to know what has happened to them, but Archen urges the team to move along, saying it would not be a good idea to turn around and stop what they were doing, reassuring the group that Dedenne and his crew are quite strong and thus can handle themselves with the most important task at hand being to stop Krookodile from reaching the peak. They agree and move on. After scaling the mountain some more, with still not a hide nor hair present of Krookodile, Nuzleaf spots some light off in the distance and they hurry to check it out.

Trivia
- Revelation Mountain is unique in that it radically alters its Pokémon roster on its second visit. The only other dungeon to do this is Dusk Forest from Explorers of Sky.
