Roselia...
My Roselia was put in the Pokémon Daycare, after it had evolved from Budew. I left it there at Lv.14 and when I took it out at Lv.50, I had found that the Moves it knew had changed. By the way, the HM move it knew was also changed. Anyway, I went to the Move relearner because I wanted to get Leech Seed back, but when I got there, it wasn't on the list. So can somebody nice explain this to me. TESHTALKSAND 21:46, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
P.S. I evolved my Roselia into Roserade but it did not make a difference when I tried to have it remember it's move.
- If you evolved it, then yes it makes a difference. :< Roserade cannot learn Leech Seed - look it up. TinaTheKirlia ♥ 22:15, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
Ok, thanks for clearing that up for me, I was a bit confused. Thank you to: Tina and TTEchinda. TESHTALKSAND 07:23, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
Is it worth mentioning that HM users could not go into daycare at all in RBY? Zurqoxn 22:07, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

Useful
In Gen III, if you put a Pokémon in the Daycare, you can go to one of the sand slopes, like in the desert, and if you tape down the up button and leave your system on on the charger, it will level them up easy. (Yes, I know about the disadvantages, but it is technically legal and also free, no Replay). Theininen 02:56, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
- You can also do that in Gen. IV with the floor panels in Fuego Ironworks. But how would that fit into the article? --Clorox (diskussion) 01:33, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
Happyness?
In Gen IV does this affect happyness in any way? I think i remember my chimeco having max ahppyness, then after it got out of the daycare, it was at 2 small hearts (this might be because I boxed it for about 6 hours) So I'm just wondering if this affects happyness in any way SLE_aman
'"They don't seem to like each other very much." Egg produced ~19.8% of the time every 256 steps. Caused by both parents having the same OT data and being a different species. This is the slowest Egg production rate.
"The two prefer to play with other Pokemon than each other." Will never produce an Egg. Caused most often by having the same gender parents in the Daycare, or trying to breed Pokemon not in the same Egg group.
"The two seem to get along." Egg produced ~49.5% of the time every 256 steps. Message due to having matching OT data and being the same species or having different OT data and being different species.
"The two seem to get along very well." Egg produced ~69.3% of the time every 256 steps. Message due to both parents having different OT data and being the same species. Best Egg rate.'
I'll stick it in about a week if no one else does but i'm too lazy to rewrite it now or add anything else... sorry Kanjo 00:06, 22 September 2008 (UTC)
Name
In Gen IV, it's called the "Pokémon Day-Care". Official name or wait for HGSS's name? TTEchidna 07:20, 26 May 2009 (UTC)
HMs can be forgotten?
Can it delete HMs in RBY? If so, then wouldn't that fix the problem about HMs not being possible to erase in those games?--Gou 21:07, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

Hostage Pokemon
I went to the daycare in Pearl version and I talked to the wife behind the counter, who sends me to the husband, who just keeps talking about the daycare checker app he gave me. I have 2 pkmn and an egg in there but i dont see them in the play area (am i supposed to?) they're just in there leveling up when i could be putting ditto to use with another partner.. I tried emptying my party to accommodate three. what am i doing wrong? how do i get the old couple to give me my pkmn back? thx LoneCubone 12:36, 16 February 2010 (UTC)
- Did you check to see if there is an egg? Turtwig A (talk | contribs) 12:38, 16 February 2010 (UTC)
- Where should I check? The daycare app shows the two pkmn and an egg in between them. LoneCubone 19:26, 16 February 2010 (UTC)
- Did you talk to the old man outside of the day care? --Mr.lol 19:28, 16 February 2010 (UTC)
- Lol thank you. silly me. LoneCubone 14:13, 17 February 2010 (UTC)
- the guy in the daycare that gives the app is a random guy. the usband is outside in blue, if you have an egg, he will face the middle road, and in d/p/pt the pokemon dont appear in the enclosure, likely due to lazy programers, or aking up too much data :s ;)--Ben7229 18:04, 21 February 2010 (UTC)

EGG
i;m playing chrystal and i went in to drop off ditto and quilava, and the old guy gave me a random egg, and i'd never been their b4 and i havent used cheats or anythin, any ideas? btw, i dont have egg token or whatever it was called--Ben7229 18:06, 21 February 2010 (UTC) btw it just hatched into a smoochum with the moves pound, lick and dizzy punch. was the dizzy punch egg a default event rather than an item event in english crystal?--Ben7229 18:08, 21 February 2010 (UTC)
- You got the Odd Egg... that's perfectly normal. You get it in English Crystal just by talking to the old guy for the first time. ▫▪Ťïňắ ♫♥ 18:13, 21 February 2010 (UTC)
HM moves not forgotten?
In which generation? I just tested in SS with my HM Slave Tentacool, and it forgot Waterfall and learned Acid while in the daycare. Werdnae (talk) 06:21, 21 April 2010 (UTC)
Loading Issues
Is it me, or does this page not load properly? The logo doesn't appear and all of the links at the top such as my contributions and talk page have all been moved to the left of the page. (Every other page works just fine...) FrozenStrategy 14:07, 21 July 2010 (UTC)

Level gain?
It seems that the most important thing is missing on this page, when the Pokémon will level up! Is it a xp per step gain, or is it time based? --Phil832 14:51, 1 September 2011 (UTC)
Happiness gain
What happens to a Pokemon's happiness when put in the day care? I checked the Happiness page, and it said that it will gain happiness when it levels up. Does this also apply to the Day Care? Tk3141 14:36, 4 March 2012 (UTC)
- No. Happiness is not gained in the day care. I don't think it is lost either though. ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 14:39, 4 March 2012 (UTC)
Effort Values
Worth mentioning that another downside to the Day Care is that Pokémon don't receive EVs? - poikins 21:42, 21 March 2012 (UTC)
- EVs are recieved by defeating Pokemon in battle. Why would people think they recieve them from the daycare? Werdnae (talk) 02:26, 22 March 2012 (UTC)
New moves learned
I left an Eevee at the day care to breed for a while. It leveled up from 14 to 21 by the time I finished breeding it, so it learned Growl in that time. But according to the article, the topmost move is deleted to make room for new moves. Eevee started with Tackle, Tail Whip, Helping Hand, and Sand Attack and when I got it back it knew Tackle, Helping Hand, Sand Attack, and Growl. Tackle wasn't deleted. Does the day care not delete the topmost move if it's the only attack move? --Blubee (talk) 06:31, 5 August 2012 (UTC)
- Nevermind. The topmost move was Tail Whip, the article confused me by listing Tackle first. --Blubee (talk) 06:56, 5 August 2012 (UTC)
Move Replacement in the Day Care
On the breeding talk page, there was discussion of Pokémon forgetting moves. It was discovered that a Pokémon's moveset isn't updated until it is withdrawn from the daycare, meaning it can pass on moves which would be overwritten if it were to be withdrawn immediately after picking up the egg.
I hypothesize that the Day Care functions like a mini PC box, but when you talk to the Day Care Lady, a special script runs which checks the step tally and checks that number against the EXP of any stored Pokémon. If the number of steps would result in a level gain, it would subtract the difference and run again until no more levels are gained, and finally if any Pokémon would gain levels, report them to the player. If you choose to withdraw a Pokémon, it is at that point when the changes are actually applied, meaning EXP is added, levels gained, and moves replaced. Can anyone think of a way to check/verify this through testing? --GARY-DOS (talk) 05:02, 7 January 2015 (UTC)
- I don't know why the exact process really even matters...?
- If you want to clarify, for the sake of breeding, that Pokemon's moves don't change until they're withdrawn (one: that's about all you need to say; and two:) that belongs on the breeding page, not here. In the big picture (as is relayed here), that's not actually important. Tiddlywinks (talk) 05:15, 7 January 2015 (UTC)
Near Nacrene City in Unova
In the article under the headline In the Anime, it says that a Pokémon Day Care is located "near Nacrene City in Unova". It is sort of true. In BW013, which takes place between the episode featuring the Pokémon Day Care and the episode where Ash and his friends arrives in Nacrene City, Cilan says that they only have to cross one more mountain in order to reach Nacrene City. I wouldn't quite call that "near", though it depends on which perspective you put it in. Torr3 (talk) 02:24, 17 August 2015 (UTC)
- I'm not sure what word or phrasing would be more appropriate than "near" in this case. While it is hard to to precisely estimate the day care's location since no route or anything was provided, I don't think it's entirely misleading to call it "near". --Pokemaster97 19:54, 17 August 2015 (UTC)
Calculation
The Calculation for price of taking pokemon out of daycare is L x 100 + 100. L = Number of levels gained. This would be nice trivia, but I don't know how to create extra topics. LukeDaDiggityDog (talk) 20:01, 27 May 2017 (UTC)
