In both Generation III and Generation IV they are the only kind of Berry to take 48 hours to grow.

A Lum Berry, if held by a Pokémon, can cure it of any status ailment instantly, or can be used as an item to cure any status ailment at any time.
Berry Blending
Lum Berries have all flavors, so are useful when blending with Berries of a higher smoothness to lower the feel of a resulting Pokéblock.
Berry Crushing
Poffin Cooking
At 100% performance, a Lum Berry can produce a Level 14 (maybe higher) Bitter Poffin when cooking alone.
