In Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, it has no use. It can be transferred from Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver to Pokémon Black and White by using the Relocator.

Its in-game data is similar to the Manaphy Egg, which can be transferred from Pokémon Ranger to any of the five Generation IV main series games. The Lock Capsule itself is transferable by Relocator to Black and White, where it can be opened by Mr. Lock in Castelia City to reveal the exclusive 95.

The Lock Capsule is rendered moot in , as TM95 is available without it.
