Revision as of 23:08, 30 December 2019
The Spaceworld '97 demo of Pokémon Gold and Silver, rather than taking place in Johto, took place in a completely different region. This area was based on all of Japan, rather than just the Kansai region, which the final region is based on. The unknown region has a variety of towns and locations that did not appear in the final games.

Silent Hill (Japanese: サイレントヒル Silent Hill) is located in the south of the region and is the hometown of the main character in the Spaceworld '97 Demo of Pokémon Gold and Silver. It is the only settlement accessible in the demo without the use of the debug menu to walk through walls or warp.
The player's house is the northwestern house. The first floor is nearly identical to that of the final. However, the second floor, which is the player's room, is quite different: it contains a Clefairy doll, two beds, and a Nintendo 64, which are not present in the final. The final room has a table, which is not in the 1997 beta.
Unlike most other hometowns, Silent Hill has a Pokémon Center, which is the northeastern building.
The southeastern building is Professor Oak's lab, but the demo prevents the player from entering the doors without the use of the debug menu. Rather than obtaining a starter Pokémon from the professor, one of the starters is chosen randomly and is available right at the beginning of the demo.
Including the player, Silent Hill has a population of 12.

Route 1 (Japanese: 1ばん どうろ Route 1) is located in the south of the region, connecting Silent Hill and Ōrudo City. It is split into two sides, with the hill Silent Hill in between. It is the only route accessible in the demo without the use of the debug menu to walk through walls or warp.

Ōrudo City (Japanese: オールド シティ Old City) is a city in the south of the region. It is inaccessible without the use of the debug menu to walk through walls or warp, and has no collision or script data.
Ōrudo City has a classical Japanese aesthetic, similar to Violet City in the final game. A river begins in the center of town and runs north.
There appears to be a Pokémon Daycare in the northwest, a Pokémon Gym in the northeast, a Pokémon academy by the base of the river, and a tall pagoda-like building similar to Sprout Tower to the west of the river. However, because script data is not present, the player cannot interact with the NPCs in the buildings or the signs that mark them.
