Release information

This card was included in the Fossil expansion with artwork by Keiji Kinebuchi, first released in the Japanese Mystery of the Fossils expansion. It was later reprinted in the Legendary Collection expansion and EX Sandstorm expansion. It was reprinted in the EX Legend Maker expansion with new artwork by Ryo Ueda, first released in the Japanese Mirage Forest expansion. It was reprinted again in the EX Holon Phantoms expansion. It was reprinted again in the EX Power Keepers expansion, first released in the Japanese World Champions Pack expansion.

Mysterious Fossil was made obsolete by the Majestic Dawn expansion, which introduced Helix Fossil, Dome Fossil, and Old Amber as separate cards.

Trivia

The Dome Fossil and Helix Fossil appear in this card. However, the artwork depicts the Dome Fossil as the fossil of a Kabutops rather than a Kabuto.
