Saffron City (Japanese: ヤマブキシティ Yamabuki City) lies between Celadon City, Vermillion City, Lavender Town, and Cerulean City. The Gym Leader, Sabrina, uses Psychic-type Pokémon, and awards the Marsh Badge. There is also a secondary gym, the Fighting Dojo, which has Fighting-types, and where, if the Dojo Master is defeated, you can obtain either Hitmonchan or Hitmonlee in Generation I.

Saffron's motto is "Shining, Golden Land of Commerce".

Saffron City is the headquarters of Silph Co., which is the creator of the Master Ball, Porygon, Porygon2, and the Upgrade.
