Magmar (Japanese: ブーバー Boober) is a Fire-type Pokémon.

- Its body always burns with an orange glow that enables it to hide perfectly among flames.

- Born in an active volcano. Its body is always cloaked in flames, so it looks like a big ball of fire.

Name origin
Magmar's name may just be a corruption of the word magma, intrusive molten rock. Its Japanese name might be a corruption of booby, a type of sea bird.
Magmar may be based on a duck or booby.

Magmar first appeared under the ownership of Blaine. He used in the Gym Battles against Ash in EP058 and EP059.
A Magmar was seen making Charcoal in EP145.
