Usually, the first two version mascots in a generation will have more of a relation to each other than the third, however, recently, all three have had a significant relationship shared among them.

Not pictured below, {{p|Venusaur}} is also a version mascot, and would be the third relation to [[Generation I]]'s {{p|Charizard}} and {{p|Blastoise}}. However, this was only in Japan prior to the release of [[Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen]], which never got a third version itself.

A version mascot is a Pokémon that appears on the boxart - and often label - of one of the Pokémon games in the main series.

Usually, the first two version mascots in a generation will have more of a relation to each other than the third, however, in the Hoenn trilogy, all three had a significant relationship shared among them.
