Pkmn veteran is a male of university student age living in the Great White Nation of Canada in its most populous city, Toronto. He has been on Bulbapedia since September 2007 but has been a fan of Pokémon since it landed in North America. He is currently seen lurking around random pages but occasionally edits character and shipping pages and has provided the Japanese characters for names. He might be considered to be someone who is obsessed with fixing shipping hints.
He is known as PKMN_veteran on the Bulbagarden Forums as well as the Serebii forums, although he is more active on BMGf as a self-proclaimed episode/movie reviewer/blogger and usually the is first to post screen caps of recently aired episodes and previews. He is usually able to watch and capture screenshots when the show airs unless his internet starts to hate him. In December 2008, the guy providing the stream had moved to Singapore and Pkmn veteran has to resort to relying on some complex technology that allows him to view broadcasts meant for portable devices with the cost of sacrificing the ability to catch screenshots. In the middle of February 2009, Pkmn veteran found another guy in northern Japan who was willing to stream his cable service for free. It was a significant breakthrough since the stream was of high quality which would allow him to make screenshots that were better than the TV Tokyo shots. The only fallback was that it would not be guaranteed that the stream would be on the channel that Pokémon would air on each week, but the opportunity was too good to refuse. He was also able to get a low quality stream of TV Tokyo in the event that the other stream would not work.
Some contributions to Bulbapedia:
The Beginning:
He had shown interest in the franchise when he saw the an episode of the original series during a short stay in Japan back in 1997. He saw the premiere episode of Pokémon in Canada back in the September of 1998, where he became a definite fan. In December of that same year, he was able to see the Japanese version of the first Pokémon movie and spoiled the ending to his friends. However he did not own a Pokémon game until September 1999 when he bought the limited edition Pokémon Game Boy Color with Pokémon Yellow. He did not own any Pokémon cards until he bought a Team Rocket booster pack where his first rare card was Dark Muk. He became one of the first people in his neighborhood to own Pokémon Silver as he bought it as part of a Nintendo Power promotion that gave away other neat things such as Pokémon pins of Pikachu, Bellossom, and Lugia as well as the holofoil edition of the Official Pokemon Gold and Silver Player's Guide. But in 2002, he lost interest in the Pokémon anime near the beginning of Master Quest since he felt the show had became garbage. Around the same time, he lost many of his treasured holofoil Pokémon Cards as his brother had traded them for cards that were just plain crap. Thus causing the end of his Pokémon card collecting. For the years following, the only exposure he had to Pokémon was Pokémon Ruby and Emerald and one episode of the Advanced season (Sharpedo Attack!) for which he had shown some interest as Ash had a new outfit, Brock came back, he was traveling with a girl who was actually prettier than Misty and a nerdy schoolboy looking kid was along as well. But he did not continue to watch the series, instead focusing on Yu-Gi-Oh (not GX) and watching RAW episodes of Naruto which he couldn't understand, yet he liked the animation. In 2006, he was able to see the Legend of Thunder special and thought that the anime replaced Ash but the special was only for three episodes. In early 2007, Since Pokémon was on in the mornings before school, he started watching the Battle Frontier series of the anime (though not chronologically, blame the network) and had to take time to get used to the new voices. He also gained a renewed interest in anime and started to obtain several series.
Return to Pokemon:
May 2007 was a big turnaround for Pkmn veteran. He obtained a copy of Pokémon Diamond for the DS and though school was pressing him for time, he started watching the Diamond & Pearl series of the anime and instantly became hooked on it as it was a big improvement from Johto. Since he couldn't wait for the new English episodes, he started watching the RAWs as well as the RAWs of episodes he saw in English. Then in September of that year, he joined BMGf and Serebii, which he had lurked the latter during Generation II. At the same time he joined Bulbapedia. He is usually able to watch the show at the time it airs.
