Rough, Tough Jigglypuff (Japanese: プリンの歌、パパの歌！ Purin's Song, Papa's Song!) is the 138th episode of the Advanced Generation series, and the 412th episode of the Pokémon anime. It was first broadcast in Japan on August 11, 2005 and in the United States on May 13, 2006.

Synopsis

Template:Incomplete synopsis While traveling towards the Battle Arena, Ash and friends get caught in a trap made by a man named Mitch Mitchum. Mitch is trying to capture a Jigglypuff to give to his daughter for her birthday, leaving his home and his job for six months to try. After trying many times with just Poké Balls, and then with the help of a Loudred he caught, he continued to be outsmarted and outsung.

Ash and friends worked on capturing it to help Mitch get the Jigglypuff, but their plans, including direct battle, food as bait, and Professor Oak's Pink Surprise Pokéblock went unrewarded. Finally, Max devised a plan to lead Jigglypuff into a sound-amplified room, where Jigglypuff's sing attack was reflected back, putting Jigglypuff (and Pikachu) to sleep. When Mitch finally had the opportunity to capture it though, he couldn't, citing that the Jigglypuff loved living free in the forest.

Mitch decides to go home to his family finally, hoping that his Loudred will be enough to keep his daughter happy. At first his daughter was sad that she didn't get a Jigglypuff, but realized that what mattered most was that he made it for her birthday and to be with family. She cheered her dad up by saying she would have plenty of fun with Loudred and was simply glad he was home. Jigglypuff appears at the end, surprising everyone, and agreeing to stay with Mitch and his family.

Trivia

• The Japanese voices of May's Combusken and Jessie's Dustox are both Rikako Aikawa filling in for Chinami Nishimura.
• The Jigglypuff in this episode has green eyes instead of the usual blue (it shares this trait with Marina's Jigglypuff). This is presumably to differentiate it from the Jigglypuff that stalked the gang throughout the original series.
• This is the final episode where Brock's Forretress is given a dub voice, as Unshō Ishizuka's voice for Forretress was retained once the anime switched to TPCi.
