Welcome

Welcome to Bulbapedia, Werdnae!

As a new user, you may wish to learn a few things that will be useful in your editing:

  • For a basic overview of wiki code, see this page.
  • Read over the style primer before making your edits. It is a basic outline of Bulbapedia style. For a more in-depth set of rules, see the manual of style.
  • Keep an eye on the Messages from the Editor on the main page, to stay informed on current events on Bulbapedia.
  • The word Pokémon is spelled with a capital P and an accented é. The é can be accessed by holding Alt and typing either 130 or 0233 on a Windows computer, and by using Option + e, then e again on a Mac. Otherwise, you can easily click it in the character palette below the editbox.
  • The word Poké Ball is spelled as two words. The "Poké" part is identical to the four beginning letters in "Pokémon"; "Ball" is spelled with a capital B. The spelling "Pokéball" arises frequently, but is incorrect.
  • The word "you" and all forms of it should not be used on encyclopedic pages unless it is a quote from Pokémon or other media. Bulbapedia is an encyclopedia, not a walkthrough.
  • On talk pages, please sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
  • The use of link templates is official policy.
  • If you happen to spot a vandal in the recent changes that has not been dealt with, please see this page for how to deal with it.
  • A list of pages that are linked to, but have not been created, can be found at this page. A list of short articles that may require more information can be found here, while a list of articles that need improvement can be found here.
  • For a future capture, release, trade, or evolution of a Pokémon belonging to a main character of the anime, please do not create or move the page to reflect your suspicions, even if they are shared by many others. Policy here is to wait until the episode in which the event happens takes place is aired, unless there is substantial evidence for the suspicion (such as Brock's Happiny being held in his arms).
  • Image uploading is done on Bulbagarden Archives, a separate wiki accessible through the toolbox in the sidebar. This is done so that both Bulbapedia and Bulbanews have access to the images uploaded. To activate your account at the Archives and Bulbanews, please login there using the same username and password you use here on Bulbapedia.
  • If you want to make a page about a character you made up, please create it at User:Werdnae/(name), not merely (name). Bulbapedia's main namespace is reserved for actual, official Pokémon, items, characters, and locations. Also, please try to make sure that subpages are not categorized by templates used within.
  • Having said this, please make sure that you do contribute adequately to the main namespace. Bulbapedia is not MySpace or Facebook.
  • A list of the admins that you can contact in case of a problem can be found here.

Thank you, and have a good time editing here! ----PAK Man Talk 05:45, 22 September 2008 (UTC)

Plurals

Hi. I couldn't hep but notice that you seem to have reverted my edits on Aron because I was using the plural tense when a group of that Pokémon was mentioned. Um, when referring to a group of things, you use plurals. I did that because the article didn't.

May I ask why you reverted? - unsigned comment from Noname4you (talkcontribs)

It's because, there's no plural form for Pokémon species. Ҝəυzø8 10:37, 28 March 2009 (UTC)

Image Redirection

*Apologies. I failed to notice your message at the top* ASecondOpinion1501 19:26, 2 September 2009 (UTC)

Hey, no worries. That is mainly just referring to when I post a comment on another user's talk page. Sometimes you see one user's comments under a section header on the other's talk page, and the other user posts all their comments on the first user's talk page, so there is only half of the conversation on each page, making it harder to follow. When referring to talk pages for mainspace pages it doesn't matter so much (in my opinion), as the conversation at least tends to stay in chunks.
In response to your question, I'm not sure, but for the wiki you replace the page with "#redirect [[page name]]" (without quotes) Werdnae (talk) 21:02, 2 September 2009 (UTC)

Dr. Footstep

I really appreciate your help compiling the list of responses! One thing, though - could you double-check Rotom? It seems we have it in the 'Tough, Footprints' category, while Rotom doesn't have footprints, which seems a little strange. Just wanted to check if was a mistake or an oddity of the game. Thanks again! Bikini Miltank 12:02, 23 September 2009 (UTC)

Oops, sorry, I made a mistake. Rotom definitely has no footprints. Having a quick look through the list and it seems that is the only mistake. I think it was the way I recorded them before editing your page all in one go. I recorded them as Pokémon: Category, F/NF, so I must have missed the N when I put Rotom in. Italics Help

Oh, I see; thank you for that help. I was trying to use HTML tags to get the words italicized. Dark Boye 21:44, 31 October 2009 (UTC)

Pastoria City

Hey, I'm not sure what was wrong with the way the rival boxes were aligned because I put it up in different resolutions to see the difference. It only stretches if you open all 3 of the boxes, which I doubt someone will do since most likely you only need to see the one that corresponds to your starter Pokémon. This same type of alignment is being used in the walkthroughs as well, as most people agreed that it looked better and saved time scrolling down. -- Jello 20:08, 16 January 2010 (UTC)

Okay, I'll change it back then. I think the reason I did that is because I forgot that the were hidden by default, and it takes about 45 seconds to actually hide them for me at the moment, since my internet has been slowed to Dial-up speed. You're right, it would look better when they are side by side. Werdnae (talk) 20:24, 16 January 2010 (UTC)

Standard

I know it's minor and all, but can you make it (it being {{FA Infobox}} usage) so it's the same standard as the other infoboxes? As in, not all jumbled up in one section... I know it outputs the same way, but that's how we do it... not a rule per se, but tradition is the word I'm looking for. ht14 22:58, 18 January 2010 (UTC)

Okay, sure. I'll go through and change them all. Werdnae (talk) 23:05, 18 January 2010 (UTC)
You don't have to (unless you finished all the FA's already). ht14 23:09, 18 January 2010 (UTC)
Pretty much. It's no trouble though. The only FA still to do is Legendary Island. I think we'll need to change the template for that slightly, as it can be obtained by recruiting any one of the Legendary Birds. Werdnae (talk) 23:13, 18 January 2010 (UTC)

Hey

Thanks for catching that. I hadn't noticed the brown, since 4 of my team are neutral natured. R.A. Hunter Blade 21:15, 14 April 2010 (UTC)

You're welcome. None of my team are neutral natured, but I checked on all of them anyway since it seems a bit counter-intuitive. Werdnae (talk) 21:21, 14 April 2010 (UTC)

Thank You

My internet was down before I could fix it.Thanks.Umitencho 00:56, 28 April 2010 (UTC)

You're welcome. Werdnae (talk) 00:59, 28 April 2010 (UTC)
On a similar note thank you for your fixing the other part of that vandal's edits on Sky Attack, I have already informed Darktrom about this and since this is a single purpose vandal this used will probably get an indefinite block. -Tyler53841 02:25, 1 May 2010 (UTC)
You're welcome. Werdnae (talk) 02:36, 1 May 2010 (UTC)

"The sprites are on the pages. People can SEE that."

By that logic the physiology sections ought to go too. Very poor reason for removal, that. Drake Clawfang 19:54, 13 May 2010 (UTC)

It's not my decision, it's the admins'. They say that there shouldn't be any sprite trivia. The problem with trivia like that is it becomes trivia for the sake of trivia, and the page ends up a list of trivia about every minute detail about the sprites. Personally, I agree with your assesment of the physiology section, that it should be removed, but you'll need to take it up with an admin. Werdnae (talk) 20:02, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
If there isn't supposed to be sprite trivia...why is there still? Drake Clawfang 20:03, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
We're not supposed to kill every single sprite trivia. Only the extremely picky ones, or the ones relating to color between Gen II and Gens III & IV. If it's something really huge, such as big differences between the sprites and official art/anime art, then we keep it. At least that's what I was told 2 months back or so. R.A. Hunter Blade 20:45, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
My appologies. I'd just seen that it had been removed before, and hadn't really read into it too much, since I'm at Uni at the moment. Werdnae (talk) 20:57, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, 2 months ago I and a few other users went on a sprite trivia killing spree and were told not to. R.A. Hunter Blade 21:07, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
Like, you can't write trivia comparing Larvitar's Gen II sprite and his GenIV's.-- Gagaromamah 15:18, 3 July 2010 (UTC)
Once again, you're responding to a two month old conversation. On the same user's talk page. R.A. Hunter Blade 17:26, 3 July 2010 (UTC)

LUGIA IS A WATER TYPE

Why wouldn't it be? It's moves are almost all water moves, and it's the guardian of the sea for crying out loud!!! It lives in the water!!! It barely uses psychic moves!!!!!!!! I've never seen it use a flying move!!!! LugiaLover 00:15, 14 May 2010 (UTC)

Because it is resistant to Template:Type2 moves. If it was Water/Psychic it would be weak to them, and if it was Water/Flying it would be neutral to them. It isn't what it looks like that counts, it's what is in the game data. The game data says it isn't a water type, so it isn't. Werdnae (talk) 00:25, 14 May 2010 (UTC)
For being a Lugia lover you sure don't know much about it. Kids these days. Oy. TTEchidna 00:31, 14 May 2010 (UTC)
Well it has water moves, so it's a water type. And why do water types have to be weak to grass types? Why do grass types have the upper hand? Grass doesn't really hurt water? I guess it takes the water, but still. I know most water types are weak to grass, but why do they all have to be? I know that Pokémon don't always follow their type's weakness and resistance, and I just exited the page on Magnemite and that doesn't follow Electric or Steel weakness or resistance. LugiaLover 00:59, 14 May 2010 (UTC)
We know by easily seen game data that it's not a Water-type. Very easily seen. CuboneKing 01:02, 14 May 2010 (UTC)
Well in the TCG it's mostly water type, and in the anime it's water type, and in the games almost every single one of its moves is water type. Face it, it's a water type.- unsigned comment from LugiaLover (talkcontribs)
Yes and Totodile has dark and normal moves, but it is not dark or normal-type. You will find that Magnemite follows the weaknesses but it combines the weaknesses and resistances so that some will be amplified and others will be nullified. This is an encyclopaedia and so we don't put in what should be true. We only put in what is true.--Beligaronia (talk) 01:04, 14 May 2010 (UTC)
Check your game, look at its summary, it says Psychic right there. Face it, it's a Psychic-type. 8( ▫▫ティナ 01:05, 14 May 2010 (UTC)
LugiaLover, please do not get so distressed that Lugia is not a water-type that you forget your signature. 梅子 01:06, 14 May 2010 (UTC)

And...how does Magnemite not follow weaknesses and resistances? And your logic is completely wrong. So just because a Pokémon can learn a move, it is that type? Then every Pokémon would be part Normal because of Hyper Beam and whatnot. — AxxonntheAwesometrainer 01:08, 14 May 2010 (UTC) img000560.jpg

TAH FREAKIN' DAH. TTEchidna 01:11, 14 May 2010 (UTC)

Look I know that it says it's Psychic/Flying but if it doesn't have any flying moves, how is it flying? I just e-mailed the official Pokémon website so I can get a real answer. And I only forgot my signature because I'm busy doing other things. LugiaLover 01:16, 14 May 2010 (UTC)
Aeroblast? Signature move? Duh? ▫▫ティナ 01:20, 14 May 2010 (UTC)
(conflicted) It does have flying moves. If you love Lugia, how can you forget about its signature move, Aeroblast?? And there's Fly, Sky Attack, Air Cutter, Aerial Ace... I could go on. CuboneKing 01:22, 14 May 2010 (UTC)
It's signature move is Hydro Blast. Also, wait about two minutes. LugiaLover 01:26, 14 May 2010 (UTC)
I believe you mean Aeroblast...--Psyライダー 01:27, 14 May 2010 (UTC)
Lol, where'd Hydro Blast come from? The TCG? Also, the Mailbag feature has been discontinued, so don't expect a response. Ever. CuboneKing 01:28, 14 May 2010 (UTC)
Hydro Blast isn't a move. If you mean Hydro Pump, yeah, and? Bagon can have it, too. Hell, Rhydon can learn Surf. Moves don't make the type, but type does often determine what moves you can have. TTEchidna 01:30, 14 May 2010 (UTC)
Thanks guys. Werdnae (talk) 03:16, 14 May 2010 (UTC)
And yes, it DOES use Flying Moves (i.e.: Aeroblast, Its signature, duh!)-- Gagaromamah 10:48, 3 July 2010 (UTC)

Response from User:Pokey

Thanks for your comment. I'm sending the response here and not on my talk page because I cannot edit that.

I figured that this would be the case, that Amity Square's item list would not merit its own template, but I was lazy to do it manually and the existing table is a huge mess. It depends on rowspan for its layout, which depends on the number of items in the list (correct me if I'm wrong), so maintaining the list will be a huge pain. My template will use nested tables, which won't need updating as the number of items in each list changes.

However, should the template be subject to deletion once its finished, it can be substituted on the Amity Square page and deleted with minimal effort. I have nearly emulated the table, so it won't take long now. -- Pokey 07:37, 30 June 2010 (UTC)

If you can edit my talk page you should be able to edit yours, so I don't know what's up there. Please do keep working on the 'template' in the sandbox, the existing table does need upgrading. And it is better that you're doing it in the sandbox, rather than on the page itself, as that lets you test things without breaking the page. Werdnae (talk) 07:44, 30 June 2010 (UTC)

Re: Hack Games: User:NoMoreHeroes488

Sorry about posting where Ruby Destiny can be found on the page, it's really my first time with this editing stuff. Regardless of my mistake, I shall continue o provide my services to this website, if I screw up again, by all means tell me of my error and report me if needed.

Again, sorry for my screw-up; NoMoreHeroes488

Help

How many pages do I need to edit in order to get permission to make my own userpage? Buddy999 04:19, 1 July 2010 (UTC)

I don't know the exact number, the EB won't tell anyone. What I can tell you is that you need to have been a user for a certain ammount of time, and make a certain ammount of mainspace edits before you can edit the userspace. Werdnae (talk) 09:55, 1 July 2010 (UTC)

My Region Infobox

Hey Werdnae, could you please do me favour and do that fancy show/hide thing on every category on my region infobox except for "intro", "professor", "starter" and "team", please? I've made a test here and the infobox needs to work for the Ranger regions as well, and they only require those sections.
And also, to not show them, would I type something like parameter=no to not show them? Cheers and thanks. たかはり 09:09, 1 July 2010 (UTC)

Done. To hide the sections just leave the parameter out completely. If it is there but left blank I think it still includes the section. I've removed the defaults, so now it will hide unless the information is there. I've also changed your sandbox page so that it has one for Kanto, as it is now different from the default, and so that it hides those sections. Werdnae (talk) 09:55, 1 July 2010 (UTC)
Perfect! Thank you so much! I think they're just about ready. たかはり 10:48, 1 July 2010 (UTC)

hey explain.

Diamond_Pearl_Volkner.png Why is not a yellow hair color admitted? Is this a blond hair? Sawamular101 00:04, 2 July 2010 (UTC)

In drawings and anime Blond hair is normally drawn as yellow. As such, it is normally marked as blond instead of yellow. Particularly when it has a bit of brown in it, such as this case, which may be considered "Dirty Blond". Werdnae (talk) 00:09, 2 July 2010 (UTC)

It is your guess. Why isn't it good that yellow is described in parallel? Sawamular101 00:13, 2 July 2010 (UTC)

"Blond hair" and "yellow hair" is basically the same thing, but the term "yellow hair" is not often used in English. "Blond hair" is a more natural-sounding term. 梅子 00:16, 2 July 2010 (UTC)
OK . It understood. Thank you for the explanation. Sawamular101 00:19, 2 July 2010 (UTC)

Hey again

I'm the you helped with the signature (although it was pretty evident). Anyways, I was looking at your user page, SO COOL!!How do you do that? Can you tell me? Or at least tell me how to do those boxy things these are confusing8D! TTYL. Bye for Now! :-P-- Gagaromamah 10:45, 3 July 2010 (UTC)

The things on the side are Usertags inside a collapsible table to keep them on the right side. The collapsible table can be replaced by <div class="userbox"> (Insert usertags here) </div> for simplicity if you like. For the colours and other more complicated stuff, I'd suggest copying the code to your userpage, preview it to make sure it's all there, remove something, and see what changes. That way you can learn what the coding does so you can get it just how you want it. Just remember to keep previewing until it looks exactly how you want it, so you only need to save the page once, and to keep the Userspace policy in mind. Werdnae (talk) 20:33, 3 July 2010 (UTC)
