A Bug Maniac (Japanese: こんちゅうマニア Bug Maniac) is a type of Pokémon Trainer that first debuted in the Generation III games. They are generally depicted as teenagers or young adults with nets and bug cages. They specialize in strong Template:Type2 Pokémon. Bug Maniacs are more experienced Bug Catchers, usually having evolved Bug Pokémon on their battle teams. Some Bug Maniacs, when battled, will say that they were once Bug Catchers.

Bug Maniacs are encountered in the middle of the game, usually at least after earning the first two badges and at least before earning the last two.
