Hey there. Just getting back to you. Okay, my first bit of advice (since you asked for my opinion) is: READ EVERYTHING YOU CAN. It is the cardinal rule that I go by, and what helped me to learn about wiki-coding. I started with EVERYTHING (i.e. ALL the links) that was in the Welcome Box that is posted on your talkpage, and then went from there. It really helped me to get a lot of the basics down, and answered a lot of questions that I had. Assuming that you have already done that (or will do that), the next thing that I can tell you is: THE PREVIEW BUTTON IS YOUR BEST FRIEND. If you are currently unsure as to what a bit of coding does, copy it into your User Page (or Sandbox) and use the preview button at the bottom of the page. Then remove something (anything, it really doesn't matter, maybe something that you don't know what it is or what it does) and preview again. Whatever breaks, that is what the bit that you deleted does. Also, it helps on server load (and helps keep you out of trouble with the admins) as far as excessive saves goes. You really only need to save a page ONCE, when you are done doing EVERYTHING you want to do to it. Secondly, {{u|♫Green♫/Wiki Code Guide|here}} is a link to help get you started with some of the basic things in wiki-code that are not in those links that are in the Welcome Box. Finally, you do not need to post your entire User Page to my Talk Page (so please don't do that anymore), and don't forget to ALWAYS sign your comments with two dashes and four tildes like this: <nowiki>--~~~~</nowiki>. Good luck, and if you have any further questions, don't hesitate to drop me a line on my talkpage, okay? I love helping out new users, anytime. --[[User:Jediknightdtv|<span style="color:blue">JediKnight</span>]][[User talk:Jediknightdtv|<span style="color:green">DTV</span>]] 05:12, 15 October 2010 (UTC)

Sorry, I checked the preview and it was fine, but when I posted it all of my user page came up. I'm pretty sure somethings wrong with my computer. my signature has all of my user page on it I think.

Welcome

Welcome to Bulbapedia, Sceptile Maniac!

Here are a few links to help you get started:

The Manual of Style, or MoS, outlines the format of all pages on Bulbapedia.

Our friendly team of staff are here to help! Talk to them if you have any questions or problems with Bulbapedia.

On talk pages, please sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~), or by using the "Your signature with a timestamp" (button_sig.png) button at the top of the edit window.

On Bulbapedia, the ability to edit personal userpages is a privilege. Per our userpage policy, this must be earned by first making constructive edits to the mainspace. Once you can, remember to keep userspace edits (edits to User:Sceptile Maniac) to a minimum.

For a complete list of policies and editing advice, please see the Welcome Portal.
Thank you, and have a good time editing here!

Your talk page

Isn't your userpage. Don't treat it like it is.--Cold (talk) 21:11, 12 October 2010 (UTC)

Cold is right. It is true that it is your talk page, but there's got to be limits. There is a Talk Page policy, which is linked to in your welcome. It's Turtwig A! My talk or wiki edits 20:20, 13 October 2010 (UTC)
As much as I hate to break it to you, I have to agree with Turtwig and Cold. Your User Talk page isn't the page for posting stuff like lists of your favorite Pokémon, etc. Your User Page is the place for that stuff. Right now, since you are new, you don't have the right to edit your User Page, yet. You earn the privilege by making constructive edits to the Mainspace. After you earn the privilege, your User Page is the place to put that stuff. As for being new, don't worry about it. After all, we were all new at one point. If you have any questions, feel free to drop me a line on my talkpage. Even though I am pretty new myself, I love helping out new users. Oh, and don't forget to sign your edits to any talkpage (even your own) with two dashes followed by four tildes (like this: --~~~~). Have fun editing and see you around!--JediKnightDTV 21:44, 13 October 2010 (UTC)

Responding to conversations

Don't do it if they're over six months old. You can check how old they are using the timestamps at the end of the signatures of the users involved.--Cold (talk) 21:20, 13 October 2010 (UTC)

Sorry... I'm very new to this and I'm pretty clueless.
