GS Cup is a set of rules that can be chosen only in Flat Battle mode at the Pokémon Communication Club Colosseum in HeartGold and SoulSilver. The match will be conducted with double battles, with two Pokémon sent out at any one time.
Restrictions
The following restrictions are observed in the GS Cup:
- Only four Pokémon may be chosen.
- Pokémon of any level can enter, but Pokémon above Level 50 will have their levels reduced to 50.
- No two Pokémon in any one team may be holding the same item.
- Any Pokémon from #001 (Bulbasaur) to #493 (Arceus) in the National Pokédex may be entered with the following conditions:
- No two Pokémon in the same team may have the same National Pokédex number.
- No more than two "Special Pokémon" can enter.
- No "Banned Pokémon" may be entered.

Trivia
- As the GS Cup rules is only exclusive to HeartGold and SoulSilver, GS (like the GS Ball) may stand for "Gold and Silver".
- The 2010 Pokémon Video Game Championship only uses HeartGold and SoulSilver versions as they are the only versions that have the GS Cup rule set, and were released in 2010.
