Iris's Excadrill (Japanese: アイリスのドリュウズ Iris's Doryuzu) is the second Pokémon that Iris was revealed to have. It first appeared in BW009.

History

Excadrill covering itself

Excadrill was obtained by Iris before she started traveling with Ash, but she did not reveal that she had it until it appeared in BW009.

After Iris's Axew got stuck in the horns of a wild Pendra, both Cilan's Pansage and Ash's Snivy tried and failed to stop it. Reluctantly, Iris sent out Excadrill to help. But as soon as it came out, it stayed in its inactive state and refused to do anything. After Iris rescued Axew herself, Excadrill came to life and attacked Pendra after Pendra inadvertently kicked it. It easily defeated it and sent it flying off into the horizon. Excadrill cried out in victory before going back into its inactive state.

Trivia

  • Excadrill's behavior is much like Ash's Charizard and Dawn's Mamoswine who chose to loaf about instead of battling and only battled on their own terms. Coincidentally, both it and Mamoswine are Template:Type2 Pokémon.
    • Of the three, Excadrill is the only one to not debut in its unevolved form, to be caught off-screen, and to not be part of a three-stage evolutionary line.
