Characteristics are a Generation IV extension of the Natures introduced in Generation III. Unlike the Natures, they do not raise or lower a stat; rather, they indicate which stats Pokémon are more adept in.
List of Characteristics
A Pokémon's characteristic is determined by its highest IV mod 5.
