Gardevoir (Japanese: サーナイト Sirnight) is a Psychic-type Pokémon.

Biology

Physiology

The mini-skirt that Gardevoir had as a Kirlia is now an elegant ballroom gown. Gardevoir has white, skinny legs underneath the gown. Gardevoir has a red plate on its chest and another red plate on its back. Gardevoir's arms are now green and the red fin-like ridges it had on its head as Ralts/Kirlia are now gone.

In the anime

Gardevoir's first appearance was in Do I Hear a Ralts?. It was the parent of the sick Ralts that Max and Ash's Snorunt were taking to the Pokémon Center.

Its most recent appearance was in DP020. It belonged to a girl named Maria and then was stolen by Pokémon Hunter J. It proved to have a deep psychic connection with its trainer and was able to hear her through thought.

Ruby Gardevoir has the ability to read the future. If it senses impending danger to its Trainer, this Pokémon is said to unleash its psychokinetic energy at full power.
Sapphire Gardevoir has the psychokinetic power to distort the dimensions and create a small black hole. This Pokémon will try to protect its Trainer even at the risk of its own life.
Emerald It apparently does not feel the pull of gravity because it supports itself with psychic power. It will give its life to protect its Trainer.
FireRed It has the power to predict the future. Its power peaks when it is protecting its Trainer.
LeafGreen It has the power to predict the future. Its power peaks when it is protecting its Trainer.

Out of the three original stages of Ralts, Gardevoir is the only one that had its name changed when it came to the U.S.

Origin

Gardevoir resembles a ballroom dancer. It is also made to resemble the ideals of elegance and beauty

Name origin

Gardevoir's name may be a combination of guardian and devoir, meaning duty. It's also notable that garde and voir means to keep and to see in French respectively. Its Japanese name may be taken to mean さあ、ナイト saa, naito, come, night.
