Snow Warning (Japanese: ゆきふらし Snowfall) is an Ability introduced in Generation IV. Two Pokémon have this Ability, both from the same evolutionary line.

Effect

In battle

Snow Warning will summon a hailstorm in battle. Its effects are the same as Hail but, instead of lasting for five turns, it lasts for the whole battle until replaced, making Blizzard more effective. If a Pokémon with Snow Warning is sent out in the same turn as another Pokémon whose Ability affects the weather, the slower Pokémon's Ability will override the faster Ability.

Outside of battle

Snow Warning has no effect outside of battle.

Please note that Abilities marked with a superscript are only available in the stated generation or later.
  • For Generation III and IV games, ignore Hidden Abilities.

Trivia

  • Just like the move Hail debuted one generation after all three other weather moves, this Ability debuted one generation after the three other weather-summoning Abilities.
  • Currently, this is the only weather-changing Ability that is exclusive to a single evolutionary family.
