I don't see why it is a hermit crab. Yes, Shellder acts as a shell, but Slowking doesn't live inside it, and Shellder is living as opposed to being empty. -[[User:Argy|Argy]]

It seems as if 宿主 yadonushi (parasitic host) is much more appropriate than 宿借り yadokari (hermit crab), given that Shellder is essentially a parasite on Yadon's head. And I quote the PokéDex:

When its head was bitten, toxins entered Slowpoke's head and unlocked an extraordinary power. (Silver) Every time it yawns, Shellder injects more poison into it. The poison makes it more intelligent. (Crystal) Slowking undertakes research every day in an effort to solve the mysteries of the world. However, this Pokémon apparently forgets everything it has learned if the Shellder on its head comes off. (Ru/Sa)

And for Slowbro:

The Shellder that latches onto the Slowbro's tail is said to feed on the host's leftover scraps (RB) Naturally dull to begin with, it lost its ability to feel pain due to Shellder's seeping poison. (Silver) An attached Shellder won't let go because of the tasty flavor that oozes out of its tail. (Crystal)

>Why can't it be both? "King of the parastic hermit crabs"?
