Origin

It is based on a caterpillar or other larva, seeing that it's evolutions are a cocoon thing and a butterfly. CoolDudeAl (talk) 19:06, 12 June 2013 (UTC)

"Kofuki" may be from コフキコガネ kofukikogane, the Japanese cockchafer, while the mushi means "bug". The fact that a cockchafer is a beetle and not a butterfly gives me second thoughts, but the names are so similar that I thought I'd put it forward anyway.
