As Jessie's Pumpkaboo dived down to attack with Frustration, Fennekin unleashed a Flamethrower attack and defeated the Pumpkin Pokémon before Pikachu sent the villains blasting off. She later watched Serena's PR video as well as Clemont's failure of a PR video.

Later she competed with Serena in the Poké Puff Contest, helping to make a Fire-type style Poké Puff, with a twig on the top, due to Fennekin's affinity for twigs, and thanks to this, she and Serena were able to make it to the final round, with Miette and the Berrybaker kids. Later neither Serena, her friends or Miette could find any ingredients in the market, as they had apparently sold out, later they went looking in the forest at Bonnie's suggestion. When they arrived they learned that someone was attempting to sabotage the contest. Then Serena and Fennekin went looking deeper in the forest, although Miette called her naive for doing so. Later they were attacked by 5 angry Swirlix, after Serena was directly attacked, she tried to help with Scratch but she was entangled and became stuck by the Swirlix's white sticky thread until rescued by Pikachu's Thunderbolt. She then drove them off with Flamethrower. After arriving to the top of the forest, she and everyone else was attacked by Team Rocket's mecha. She was almost sucked in by the mecha until Ash blocked the airflow, causing it to overheat and then she used Flamethrower to cause damage and then force Team Rocket to release Ash, Pikachu and the Swirlix. After it was immobilised by the Swirlix, she used her Flamethrower, along with Pikachu's Thunderbolt and Miette's Slurpuff's Energy Ball to destroy the mecha. Later she was present in the final round both Serena and Miette lost to the Berrybaker kids, leaving them in the Top 3 of the contest.

Serena's Fennekin (Japanese: セレナのフォッコ Serena's Fokko) is Serena's first Pokémon.

History

Serena and Fennekin

Fennekin first appeared in A Battle of Aerial Mobility! as one of the three starter Pokémon new Pokémon Trainers could choose from Professor Sycamore. In A Shockingly Cheeky Friendship!, Serena chose Fennekin as her starter Pokémon. Later in the same episode, Fennekin chased a wild Vespiquen that was about to attack Serena away with Ember, demonstrating courage and care for her Trainer.

In A Blustery Santalune Gym Battle!, Fennekin woke up with Serena at a Pokémon Center and enjoyed a large breakfast with her. Fennekin mimicked Serena's actions during their breakfast by stretching as the same time she did. Later in the same episode, she was introduced to Ash, Pikachu, Clemont, and Bonnie and greeted them happily.

In Giving Chase at the Rhyhorn Race!, Fennekin had her first battle, fighting against Team Rocket and using Ember to blast them off.

In Grooming Furfrou!, Serena left her with what she thought were Pokémon Stylists so she could be groomed. Unfortunately, the "Pokémon Stylists" turned out to be Team Rocket, who were running a scam to steal Pokémon. When Serena saw the "Pokémon Stylists" on a wanted poster, she rushed to rescue Fennekin, and did so with the help of Ash, Pikachu, Jessica and her Furfrou, they were reunited after they sent Team Rocket blasting off.

In A PokéVision of Things to Come!, many personality traits of Fennekin became apparent such as her jealousy, short temper, and concern for her appearance. She become jealous of Aria and her Fennekin after she observed their winning PR video. After Serena was inspired by the video, she and Fennekin decide to make their own PR video to portray their bond with one another. While filming the video, there were incidents where Fennekin became dirty which angered her and made her throw Ember attacks at anyone nearby (both times hitting Pikachu coincidentally). Fennekin was later captured by Team Rocket alongside Pikachu and Dedenne but, with their combined attacks including her Hidden Power, managed to escape. Fennekin's dislike for water was also made apparent in this episode when she hesitated to run through a large muddy puddle that was between herself and Serena. After seeing her trainer get attacked by Team Rocket however, Fennekin, at the cost of getting muddy, ran to protect her trainer by unleashing a Flamethrower attack at the villains.

In A Battle by Any Other Name!, Serena competed with her Fennekin in a Poké Puff Contest, and made a Fire-type style Poké Puff with a twig on the top due to Fennekin's affinity for twigs. Later, both of them went looking in a forest for ingredients but were attacked by angry Swirlix. Fennekin tried to ward off the Swirlix with Scratch, but she was entangled and became stuck by the Swirlix's white sticky thread until rescued by Pikachu's Thunderbolt. She then drove them off with Flamethrower.

Personality and characteristics

Fennekin has been shown to take after her Trainer. In A Blustery Santalune Gym Battle!, she mimicked Serena when she stretched out. She takes pride in her appearance, and becomes upset when her fur or tail become mussed or dirty. In The Bamboozling Forest!, she thanked Froakie for cleaning her tail with the Frubbles on the Water-type's back, and in A PokéVision of Things to Come!, she hesitated to escape from Team Rocket because of a large muddy puddle that blocked her path, only changing her mind after seeing her Trainer start to run across the puddle to her side. Her character continued on Going for the Gold! while hiding away from battling from a Corsola's Water Gun.

Fennekin is shown to have a bit of a temper and she gets angry quickly without thinking twice, as shown in A PokéVision of Things to Come!, when she continuously tried to hit Pikachu with her Ember attack. The same episode also showed that she is easily envious, becoming jealous of Aria's Fennekin's performance on PokéVision, and when Ash and Chespin complimented the performance.

Fennekin is shown to have similar interests as Serena, as seen in A PokéVision of Things to Come!, and A Battle by Any Other Name!, where Fennekin is seen to enjoy cooking and dressing up, particularly with Serena, and has a like for Poké Puffs, and other sweets such as Macarons. First shown in The Bamboolzing Forest!, she also likes to snack on twigs, which is characteristic of her species.
