Volt Absorb (Japanese: ちくでん Electricity Storage) is an Ability introduced in Generation III. Seven Pokémon can have this Ability, all of which are Electric types.
Effect
In battle
When a Pokémon with Volt Absorb is hit by an Electric-type move, its HP is restored by one quarter of its maximum HP, and the move will have no effect (if a Pokémon with this Ability already has full HP, the Electric-type move will do nothing). This includes moves used under the effect of Ion Deluge or Electrify, and Judgment when holding a Zap Plate.
If the Pokémon is also holding a Cell Battery, Volt Absorb will activate first, and the Cell Battery's effect is not triggered.
Generation III
Volt Absorb did not protect against Thunder Wave in Generation III; this was changed in later generations.
Outside of battle
Volt Absorb has no effect outside of battle.
