The Preview Button
Instead of editing a page several times in a row, try using the preview button to make sure your edit looks the way you want it to. It's right next to the Save Page button. Please try it out, so as not to clog up the Recent Changes. Also, if you want to edit multiple sections of the page, make sure that you click "edit this page" at the top of the page rather than editing it by section. Thanks! --Tiddlywinks (talk) 19:16, 15 August 2015 (UTC)
Hi
Just so you know, I have data for about four games to add to every Pokémon page starting possibly today. Rumble World is one of those four games. I'm also adding Rumble U, Battle Trozei, and Shuffle at the same time. CycloneGU (talk) 16:03, 6 September 2015 (UTC)
- I have started doing those modifications. I should note that you did make a mistake at Victreebel's page. Breezy Grasslands is not located at Starlight Islands, but at Distortion Land. I will be going through all of the pages now (including any already generally done, as all through Dugtrio in Dex order were), so errors will generally be overwritten now anyway, but be mindful to associate the proper location with each area. CycloneGU (talk) 00:27, 7 September 2015 (UTC)
- Thank you for the notification; I was up late last night editing, so I would expect that I made a mistake or two. I apologize. However, I was rather enjoying editing each pokemon's entries for Rumble World, so I really would appreciate it if you let me update them. The Heatran Man (talk) 01:04, 7 September 2015 (UTC)
- I went ahead and merged the sections; this is how we usually do discussions on the Wiki. =)
- I understand what you're saying, but I have already built the Rumble World listings into my templates. What I would suggest doing, and a great way to help, would be to check what I put on each page and make sure it's accurate. I am fairly sure it's 100% accurate as I constructed it from the in-game list, and created many of the area pages from scratch (check the page histories!), but even then I found a few mistakes later getting corrected. Definitely do follow up on mistakes and I'll research anything you change in my game to make sure it was my mistake. You can even follow along with the game open if you have the full Dex and check every single entry. =) CycloneGU (talk) 01:10, 7 September 2015 (UTC)
- Okay, thanks for the correction; I didn't know. I've only been an active user on here for a couple of months, so I'm still learning. =)
- I do have the full dex completed in my Rumble World game, so I'll definitely take a look at your entries and make sure they are correct. Although I assume that all of yours would be correct, so it kind of takes the fun out of it; you seem like a pretty experienced user. I appreciate the help though. Is there anything else that could use updating? The Heatran Man (talk) 01:17, 7 September 2015 (UTC)
- I know it seems mundane, but definitely go through anyway. I'm not doing all of them this evening, and have thoughts of finishing all of Kanto this evening, but may not continue beyond that for the evening. I know Rumble U I cannot actually play myself, so if you have a Wii U and have that game, that is something I would love to do some investigations on if you're willing to put some time into it. I did all of my research by watching videos of other people playing the game and there is still incomplete information that I just cannot get at without the game myself (though the Pokémon list is complete on every single one, some stages have unique mechanics in what appears during a playing). CycloneGU (talk) 01:33, 7 September 2015 (UTC)
- I wish I could be of help with that, but unfortunately, I own neither a WiiU nor a copy of Rumble U. There is a particular project I've been working on for another page, but I've been having some trouble with it, because it requires so much editing. Do you happen to know how long you can keep an edit window open before the session times out? And second, if you're only doing Kanto this evening, then would you mind terribly if I did Johto and/or Hoenn? The Heatran Man (talk) 01:49, 7 September 2015 (UTC)
- Well, the thing is that I have set them all to follow a specific format. Kanto is completed as of now, so you can start looking through them if you want to verify them. If you do proceed with Johto, just note I'll be following behind with other edits on top of them and may end up overwriting with a paste anyway (though if it looks identical there's no way you or anyone else would know I did that LOL)|.
- what I will suggest, however, is this. Kalos was completed a long time ago; the reason behind this was that templates needed to be converted to the new look, and that was a staff-only job, but there was no template available at all on the Kalos pages because they could not have possibly appeared in any side games before Generation VI. What I might suggest, if you really want to edit some pages, is to go through from Chespin onwards to Diancie (which only has a Rumble World entry and nothing else at present) and modify the entries that don't match the format used on all of the Kanto entries to match. Some have recently come out in Shuffle, as well, and have not yet been updated with this information, so you can update those. It will be a while before I get to those pages, and Johto I'll be doing tomorrow, anyway (if not later this evening). Working on Kalos and updating what needs to be updated might be a HUGE help and keep me from having to go through them later (though I will of course verify them and make any formatting fixes later). Go to Pokémon Shuffle and scroll down to "Stages" for a table of links; what's of the most interest for this end of the project is any Kalos entries starting in Wacky Workshop (and the next two areas after), any Expert Stages with Kalos entries (if there are more), and any Kalos event Pokémon. The Rumble World and Battle Trozei entries may just need formatting fixes. CycloneGU (talk) 02:01, 7 September 2015 (UTC)
- I will get to work on reformatting and editing Kalos, then! (I don't have Shuffle, so I unfortunately can't help there) Although for clarification, is the "DL" format that I've been using correct, or is the other format that uses "#" correct? The Heatran Man (talk) 02:29, 7 September 2015 (UTC)
- And do you know the answer to my other question about timing out? The Heatran Man (talk) 02:29, 7 September 2015 (UTC)

Just use Preview. It ignores timeouts. Sometimes, even on short edits, it happens, and it just functions as a preview anyway.
I honestly didn't check your other edits, so just check any Kanto entry. From Bulbasaur, examples are:
- Blade-and-Shield Path: Stage 1 (a Battle Trozei entry)
- Puerto Blanco: Stage 2 (that's Shuffle)
- Origin Hideaway: Old-Growth Woods (All Areas) (this is Rumble World)
That should help! CycloneGU (talk) 02:44, 7 September 2015 (UTC)
- Oh geez, that means I've been doing it wrong this whole time! This whole time I've been using:
- Origin Hideaway: Origin Hideaway (All areas)
- So I'll go back and change the Kalos entries so that they conform to that format instead. Thanks for clarifying. And that answers my question about timeouts; thanks! The Heatran Man (talk) 02:50, 7 September 2015 (UTC)
- I think a staff member set that up, but I argue there's no point linking first to Origin Hideaway, then relinking to a table at Origin Hideaway. Mine is a single link to the table, usually, which is sufficient since page visitors can just hit HOME or something. CycloneGU (talk) 03:04, 7 September 2015 (UTC)
- Oh yeah, I see what you're saying. That makes sense. Also, I'm actually feeling a bit tired myself, so I'm going to go to sleep and then hopefully edit all of Kalos for Rumble World tomorrow. The Heatran Man (talk) 03:12, 7 September 2015 (UTC)
- See if you can do all three (two where applicable) while there, and use the Shuffle stage data (start at Pokémon Shuffle) to research some missing theirs. You can get credit for adding it where necessary, then, if that matters to you. =) I'll get to it and paste it in eventually anyway as I already have it, but if you get everything on a page done that leaves nothing for me to edit. Which is just fine. =) CycloneGU (talk) 03:39, 7 September 2015 (UTC)
- Thank you, I will do that! And, at the risk of sounding kind of bad, I do care about the credit for my edits, which is mainly why I wanted to add the Rumble World entries myself where I could. The Heatran Man (talk) 02:03, 8 September 2015 (UTC)
- I felt the same way during the lockdown where I first came here. I was like, "Come on, I'm doing all this research and you want me to give someone else credit for the research?" At the same time, I see why they do it, but yeah...for OR/AS, I waited for the lockdown to end and then worked on my first main project I took on here. Done several since then. CycloneGU (talk) 02:10, 8 September 2015 (UTC)
- What lockdown? I don't think I was here for that. The Heatran Man (talk) 02:12, 8 September 2015 (UTC)

What exactly does a lockdown do? Like, if nobody can edit the pages during the lockdown, then how does the information get added to all the pages? The Heatran Man (talk) 02:30, 8 September 2015 (UTC)
- Staff add requested edits.
- Also, just an FYI. I'm burning through pages exactly where you are right now. I'm on Unova. CycloneGU (talk) 03:20, 8 September 2015 (UTC)
STOP
It's extremely unproductive when I have to redo my edits due to edit conflicts. There's nothing funny or productive about it, and your edits in the middle of what I'm editing as I'm trying to edit are forcing me to redo every single edit. PLEASE STOP EDITING SIDE GAMES LAYOUTS AT THIS TIME. THANK YOU. CycloneGU (talk) 03:34, 8 September 2015 (UTC)
- I literally was sending you a message that I was stopping right as you were typing that. I honestly didn't mean to frustrate you. I stopped at Gigalith. Would it be okay if I started from the other end at Genesect and worked my way backwards? The Heatran Man (talk) 03:37, 8 September 2015 (UTC)
- That way we wouldn't be in each other's ways. I'd stop around Haxorus or so. The Heatran Man (talk) 03:39, 8 September 2015 (UTC)
- That is fine. Sorry, that was the fourth edit conflict I ran into, so I was getting a little testy by that point. While you could start at Genesect, I have to cover your edits anyway when I add Shuffle (where applicable) and two other games, so you'd be better off checking Kalos and the various Pokémon Shuffle pages (where new data exists) to fix those up. It goes all the way to Diancie (who, along with Zygarde, is not in Shuffle). CycloneGU (talk) 03:42, 8 September 2015 (UTC)
- It's alright, I understand completely. When you stop for the night, let me know where you left off and I'll pick up from there. I'd help out more with Shuffle, but I've never played Shuffle before, so I have no clue about it. I'll collect data on the main Shuffle page and see if I can figure it out, but I can't promise anything. The Heatran Man (talk) 03:50, 8 September 2015 (UTC)
- I'll give you a quick primer to add missing Shuffle data. First, go to the area of stages added since roughly June 2; this is mostly Pedra Valley but also can include Albens Town. Check for any Kalos Pokémon on there (Vivillon and family are at Albens Town, for instance) and visit their pages to add the information by the format I'm using everywhere else. While on each page, fix up the format on Rumble World and Battle Trozei (you were doing all right with Rumble World, in fact). I may or may not cross into Kalos this evening, I'm having wisdom teeth pain and could stop anytime without mentioning it. So basically, watch Recent Changes for me to stop for about half an hour or more; at that point, I might be done. CycloneGU (talk) 03:55, 8 September 2015 (UTC)
- Okay, thanks. I'll probably spend some time working on that tomorrow if I have time. And I think I'll just leave you to your edits in Unova. I'm not going to be awake much longer anyway. Although I do feel a bit left out seeing all those points you're just racking up. =) The Heatran Man (talk) 04:08, 8 September 2015 (UTC)
- Well, I know that it's not a video game, and I do get satisfaction from getting the job done. But then what are those green numbers that show up for each edit in the contributions and recent changes pages? The Heatran Man (talk) 04:32, 8 September 2015 (UTC)
(resetting indent)
OH...
Those are bytes. Notice on the history the page size with each rendition of the page. The version I'm currently editing is 17,534 bytes, and your last edit added 324) bytes to the page. Red numbers can appear showing you removed data. You'll see large ones once in a while; see Pokémon Shuffle in fact to see that a huge split was just completed, in fact. CycloneGU (talk) 04:37, 8 September 2015 (UTC)
- OHHHHHHH I GET IT NOW!! Thank you! I thought they were like editor's points or something, and you got more points for more valuable edits, and you got deducted points if you edited incorrect information. Thank you for clearing that up for me! I'm glad I know the real information now! The Heatran Man (talk) 19:56, 9 September 2015 (UTC)
- Agreed! It was a lot of work, but I'm glad it's done! We have done our work in educating the masses! =) Now I can focus on that other project I was working on! The Heatran Man (talk) 23:53, 10 September 2015 (UTC)
