Auto Deck Machine

An Auto Deck Machine (Japanese: オートデッキマシン Auto Deck Machine) is a computer at Mason Laboratory that contains lists for certain card decks; if the player has each necessary card of a particular deck list, the machine can also build the corresponding deck. There are 9 Auto Deck Machines found at Mason Laboratory, only one of which is operational from the beginning of the game. The remaining 8 require the player to defeat Club Masters to obtain Master Medals that can be used to activate them. There is also a Legendary Auto Deck Machine found in the Hall of Honor at the Pokémon Dome.

This is similar to the Deck Save Machine, where the player can save customized decks.

Mechanics

In both games, a deck may be successfully retrieved if the player has all the required cards and they aren't currently used in any other decks. The player may have 4 decks at a time. If they already have 4 decks, they will be required to dismantle or edit a deck before building the new one.

Various symbols appear in the list of decks, which are described below.

Symbol	Notes

×	The player does not have one or more cards required for this deck.
※	One or more required cards are in other current decks.

Pokémon Trading Card Game

In Pokémon Trading Card Game, the player is only able to build a deck if they have all the cards and they are not in any other current decks.

If the player does not have some cards for a given deck, then the symbol × is shown near the deck. There is always a number near the ×, which is the sum of all required cards the player doesn't have and all the required cards that are in other current decks. (for instance, if the player doesn't have 10 cards, while 5 cards are in other decks, then the number 15 would appear near the ×)

If the player has all the required cards but they are currently used in other decks, then the symbol ※ appears instead. Unlike the second game, there is never any number near the ※, so it's not possible to know how many cards are needed from other decks.

This game doesn't provide any way to see exactly which cards are needed from existing decks. It only provides a list of cards that the player does not have, if the player attempts to build a deck with missing cards.

Pokémon Card GB2: Here Comes Team GR!

In Pokémon Card GB2: Here Comes Team GR!, the list of saved decks simultaneously displays the number of cards currently used in other decks (with the symbol ※) and the number of cards the player does not have (with the symbol ×), if needed. If the player tries to build a deck with any of these issues, then the game asks if they want to dismantle existing decks needed and/or create the deck with replacement cards. The game displays a list of any cards the player does not have, and also a separate list of cards needed from existing decks.
