Casey's Beedrill (Japanese: ナナコのスピアー Nanako's Spear) was the sixth Pokémon that Ash caught in the Johto region, and his twentieth overall. It was later given to Casey.
In the anime
History
Original series
Ash caught Beedrill in the Bug-Catching Contest in The Bug Stops Here. In capturing it, he won the contest, and, according to the rules, the winner is allowed to keep the Pokémon that was caught. However, Ash chose to give Beedrill to Casey afterwards because of her love for yellow and black-striped Pokémon. It has since become one of her three main Pokémon, along with Meganium and Elekid.
Pokémon Chronicles
In Those Darn Electabuzz!, Beedrill was seen sleeping with Meganium and Elekid, and got angry when Don, a Charizard, was on a rampage. It also cheered the Electabuzz baseball team theme song with Casey and her other Pokémon.
Personality and characteristics
Due to appearing only very shortly before being caught, Beedrill's original nature remains uncertain, although it was shown possessing aggressive characteristics typical to its species while attacking Ash. After joining Casey's team, it seems to have adopted Casey's confident and cheerful attitude, eagerly joining Casey, Meganium, and Elekid in performing the Electabuzz theme song.

In The Electric Tale of Pikachu manga
Ash caught a Beedrill in Clefairy Tale, although it was never seen being used. He thought this Beedrill would help him to raise his Trainer rank, but it couldn't.
Trivia
- Beedrill is the only Pokémon Ash has given away.
- Beedrill is the first Pokémon from a three-stage evolutionary line that Ash caught in its fully evolved form.
