In Japan, this card was available as a Jumbo Unnumbered Promotional card on an insert in the August 1999 issue of CoroCoro Comic, released on July 15, 1999. Another insert containing Giovanni's Nidoking and Koga's Ninja Gym was included in the same issue.

Trivia

  • The text on the top right of the card border reads: "Movie "Mirage Pokémon: Lugia's Explosive Birth" special jumbo card." As a Jumbo card, it cannot be used at official tournaments.
  • The text on the bottom of the card border features the CoroCoro logo and reads: "Monthly CoroCoro Comics: August issue supplement." The 1999 Pikachu the Movie logo is present in place of an expansion symbol.
