The Miss Fortunes (Japanese: ショウチクバイ Shō-Chiku-Bai), also known as the Miss Fortune sisters, are a trio of bandits from the Hisui region and act as the villainous team for the region. As bandits, they usually steal valuable items or Pokémon. Prior to becoming bandits, Charm was a member of the Galaxy Team, while Clover and Coin were members of the Diamond Clan and Pearl Clan, respectively.

Members of this team have the Trainer class Bandit.

In the games

The Miss Fortune sisters are first encountered at Crimson Mirelands when the player recovers the stolen Wall Fragment from them. Their next encounter with them is at Cobalt Coastlands after the player has befriended the rideable Basculegion, stealing one of Palina's Growlithe and taking it to Firespit Island so they can evolve it. The player follows them and defeats each of the sisters, after which Palina's other Growlithe appears and evolves into Arcanine, forcing the sisters to depart. They're encountered for the third time in Primeval Grotto, wanting to steal the Origin Ore since they think it's valuable, but are driven away.

Outside of scripted encounters, each sister also has one semi-fixed spawn per map area. Each of them drops a stack of valuable items every time the player wins a battle against them during these encounters.

Miss Fortune Sisters was introduced as a Supporter card in the Pokémon Trading Card Game during the English Sword & Shield Series (the Japanese Sword & Shield Era). It was first released in the Japanese Dark Phantasma subset and the English Lost Origin expansion, with artwork by Souichirou Gunjima. It was also released as a Full Art card and Secret card in the same Japanese and English expansions, with artwork by the same artist. It allows the player to look at the top five cards of their opponent's deck and discard any number of Item cards they find there. The other cards are shuffled back into their deck.

Trivia

  • The Japanese name of the group alludes to the Three Friends of Winter, an art motif popular in East Asian culture that features the three plants that persevere during the winter season: pine, bamboo, and plum. In the Japanese, Korean, and Chinese versions, each of the three members are named after the respective plants.
  • Each bandit wears a piece of clothing originating from the group that they left:
    • Charm wears a Construction Corps uniform.
    • Clover wears Diamond Clan boots.
    • Coin wears part of a Pearl Clan Outfit underneath her bandit attire.
      • In addition, all members have their Poké Balls in the same charms as the Security Corps.
