Ability Shield (Japanese: とくせいガード Ability Guard) is a type of item introduced in Generation IX.

Effect

In battle

Ability Shield prevents the holder's Ability from being changed. It also makes the holder ignore effects that ignore Abilities. For instance, if a Pokémon that ignores Abilities uses Leer on a Pokémon with the Ability Clear Body that is holding an Ability Shield, its Defense will not be lowered by one stage.
