:As far as my understanding goes, those in question are two separate cards indeed. So what happens when this card is played and something references Pokémon with Dark in their names or Pokémon with Rocket's in their names? Or is that why the reprint of Rocket Hideout in EXTRR included "Rocket's"? TTEchidna 20:15, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
Split by Language
So the story goes that a "Rocket's Celebi" was changed into this Dark Celebi for the English release of the card. This causes many things to happen that I believe mean that there's no way both languages of this card can actually share a page.
- The type changes. Dark Celebi is Darkness/Grass, but Rocket's Celebi is pure Darkness. I don't think the infobox is capable of displaying both, and even if it did type-shifts are separate cards as per our Sun & Moon coverage. (The Dragon ones use the same Energy types in attack costs, so it's a quality of typing.)
- Dark Celebi is a Dark Pokémon, and "Rocket's Celebi" is a Rocket's Pokémon. In the TCG, these kinds of designations are checked for via reading the card name. Meaning that existing cards would look at a Dark Celebi and treat it differently from a "Rocket's Celebi". It also really messes with how categories for this card work, since it's in the Rocket (TCG) category that specifically excludes Dark Pokemon.
- Dark Celebi has to be listed by the name "Dark Celebi" in the Rocket's Pokemon list on the Owner's Pokemon page, which just looks confusing. It would be far clearer if that list could just use "Rocket's Celebi", but it can't because it uses the TCG ID template which needs the exact name of this article, which is "Dark Celebi (EX Hidden Legends 4)". While usually I'm aligned with "the formatting is wrong if it can't handle an edge case", in this case there is an easier solution: splitting the page.
Another option I thought of is giving this article a new section for "Rocket's Celebi" information, possibly involving a second infobox. That leaves point 3 unresolved, which I dislike. It also makes this page really non-standard looking, which I assume is off the table because policy pages really stress that articles are supposed to be similar.
With all that said, I present a summary of my proposed options:
- Keep as is
- Keep as is but really highlight that the JP card is different, in a subsection of the Trivia section most likely
- Create new section, with infobox, which contains "Rocket's Celebi" information.
- Split article, creating Dark Celebi and "Rocket's Celebi"
I really am pushing for a split here. I don't like the other options at all. Salmancer (talk) 19:46, 18 January 2024 (UTC)
- I am also in favor of a split. Why else would I create the Chansey (Creatures Deck) page? --Bfdifan2006 (talk | contribs) 17:39, 21 March 2024 (UTC)
- Right now, I have a draft to be moved over the redirect when we reach a consensus. This would leave removing the information about the Japanese card's release from this article, but still link to it due to the similarities. --Bfdifan2006 (talk | contribs) 09:49, 22 March 2024 (UTC)
