History
Pre-series
A few years before turning ten, Diana found in her home an old trunk containing a pendant and a book with memories of an old Trainer's journey. The text that Diana found in this book motivated her to travel on her own journey to find out if these stories were real. Together with her Growlithe, who would later become a huge Arcanine, Diana traveled the world in search of answers, but was unable to find any.
In the midst of her journey in search of answers, Diana met several people, such as Tepen who became a frequent guest on her adventures and who was once trapped for days tied to a net made by the web of an Ariados next to Diana and also met Hamber, who she also traveled with a few times in the past.
On one of her trips, Diana sought to learn about the myth of a Lapras that was seen by navigators around the world, but when she arrived at the place she was unable to find what she was looking for as she did not have the right equipment at the time. Although Diana tried several times to solve this mystery, there came a time when she gave up looking.
However, about thirty years after starting her journey, Diana decided to stop looking for answers about the legend of Lucius and seek information about other myths. Some time later, she became a mother and had a daughter named Lucca, who grew up somewhere in the Kanto region until she eventually moved to Paldea and lived there.
At some unspecified point in the past, she told her daughter, the story of Lucius. This story was also told to her son-in-law, which inspired him to use it as the subject of one of his books.
Approximately one year before the events of The Pendant That Starts It All (Part One), Diana gave a mysterious pendant to her granddaughter. She told Liko that she should trust her Pokémon to face fear and that this pendant would become important for her in the future. Some time after this, Hamber returned, wanting to introduce Diana to Gibeon, who he said had the answers she was looking for. However, she realized that the man she knew was just another member of the Explorers that was after the pendant. This caused her to suggest that Lucca call the group of adventurers called the Rising Volt Tacklers to protect Liko and the pendant.
Pokémon Horizons: The Series
In The Pendant That Starts It All (Part One), Amethio introduced himself to Liko as someone sent by her grandmother, however this turned out to be a lie and his interest was only in the pendant and the power it possessed.
In For Sure! 'Cause Sprigatito's with Me!, she was briefly seen in Liko's dream. In the dream, Liko remembered the day she received the pendant as a gift.
Diana reappeared in Welcome to Paldea! during a flashback to Liko's earlier dream.
In The Future I Choose, it was revealed that Diana was living somewhere in the Galar region. Liko and the other members of the Rising Volt Tacklers then decided to travel there.
In Reunion at the Ancient Castle!, Diana was at her ancient castle, where she reunited with Liko and met her friends Roy and Friede, who was one of Lucca's student. Diana also met Liko's Pokémon partners Sprigatito and Hatenna, which excited her. Also, Diana reunited with Terapagos and explained her past to Liko and her friends. However, the Explorers, who have been following Liko and her friends, arrived at their location.
In the next episode, Diana tried to escape with the Rising Volt Tacklers, taking with her research items on Lucius, but she was confronted again by Hamber. After a brief but harsh conversation, she decided to escape through a collapsed wall, leaving her former friend behind. Later, Diana briefly joined the Rising Volt Tacklers and revealed to Liko some of the secrets she discovered about Lucius and the identities of the other Pokémon he had in ancient times.
In Terapagos's Adventure!, Diana attended a lunch with the Rising Volt Tacklers, and later, when she saw that Liko was having difficulty with Terapagos, she helped her and later told more about this Pokémon's past. After that, Diana handed Liko Lucius's belt and entrusted her granddaughter with the care of Terapagos.
In As Long as I'm with My Friends, Diana attended a get-together with the Rising Volt Tacklers in the Wild Area. At night, at the Brave Asagi, she talked to Roy about his goal of finding Rayquaza. Diana also revealed that she would introduce Liko and Roy to a friend of hers who works with antiques. In the next episode, Diana revealed that she was translating a text about Laqua, and indicated the place where Tepen's store was to Liko, Roy and Friede. After discovering that the text was a fraud, Diana met with her granddaughter and her friends who were battling her former traveling partner who had stolen Roy's Ancient Poké Ball. Diana then used Tepen's Bronzor to show him a reflection of his true character, inspiring him to return to his old self and reveal who he intended to sell the Poké Ball to.
In HZ030, Diana was seen talking to Liko about a mysterious liquid that was found aboard the Brave Olivine. Upon hearing the reports, Diana decided to do an experiment with an antique teacup. After the group discovered that it was caused by a wild Polteageist, Diana joined the Rising Volt Tacklers for another get-together, when Friede drank the liquid that was in the antique teacup, Diana revealed that her experiment had worked and a Sinistea emerged from the cup, who joined the other Pokémon aboard the ship.
In HZ031, Diana heard rumors about the Lapras again, who happened to be one of Lucius's Pokémon, after they got a led through a ship crew that saw the Transport Pokémon. After they group failed to get Lapras to come out, as there was Mist covering it and two Pokémon appeared on the ship, Diana witness a plan Friede devised to get the Transport Pokémon to come back, which worked. In the next episode, Diana helped her friends battle the Pokémon that were attempting to steal food from them. Diana even helped her friends get out of Lapras's Ice Beam, after the Transport Pokémon used the move to freeze the Brave Olivine. After Lapras decided to join the group, Diana and her friends witness the Black Rayquaza arriving at their location.
In HZ033, Diana witnessed Amethio arrive and battle the Black Rayquaza, but he was defeated and Terapagos transformed to battle the Legendary Pokémon. However, after the Black Rayquaza left, Diana told Friede that she planned to travel alone again, intending to investigate the Explorers. Later, Diana did a training battle with Liko and Roy, but the match was called off. In the next episode, Diana attended a surprise party that Liko and Roy setup for her departure, which she appreciated. Before leaving, Diana gave Liko her adventure log. Diana then bid farewell to Liko and the Rising Volt Tacklers.
Diana appeared in a flashback to Liko and Roy's journey in HZ045.
Character
As described by Liko, her grandmother is an adventurer, who travels all over the world and this ends up with her not having a fixed residence, never revealing her whereabouts to her family. Diana has a very strong appetite, quickly eating her breakfast before others and always requesting seconds. While friendly and cheerful, Diana can also show a very strong temper, as upon discovering her old friend Tepen scammed her, she ordered her Arcanine to burn him to a crisp, but quickly calmed down at Liko's behest.
Since she began traveling with the Rising Volt Tacklers, Diana quickly became part of the group, participating in interactions and meetings with members. During this period, Diana settled on the Brave Olivine's observation deck, where she often uses the telescope and has quick access to the outside of the ship. It's later revealed that Diana managed to form a friendship with Dot, who, despite the girl being quite closed to people, managed to find a lot in common with the adventurer.
In HZ030, Diana revealed to Liko that she likes to be alone in a quiet place, especially to read, and occasionally talk while doing so.
In HZ033, Diana revealed that she doesn't do well with technology, which is why she prefers to rely on her Squawkabilly than own a Rotom Phone to communicate with people.

Around 30 years ago, already evolved, Arcanine appeared with Diana when she was already a young adult.
In the present day, Arcanine first appeared when Liko, Roy, and Friede arrived at Diana's castle near Hammerlocke. As the Explorers invaded the castle, Arcanine tried to warn Diana of the danger that surrounded them. In the next episode, after Coral had her Glalie use Self-Destruct, Arcanine helped its Trainer to escape from the explosion.
