Guren Town, is the seventh chapter of the Pokémon Zensho manga.
Synopsis
Satoshi arrives in Cinnabar Island.
Chapter guide
Satoshi and Pikachu are riding Lapras to the Seafoam Islands. With Misty's Seel, he remembers the Dewgong that saved him. He goes inside and sees a bunch of peaceful Pokémon. After seeing this, Satoshi decides to free Misty's Seel and watches it swim away. Satoshi's looking around when he sees a mysterious figure on top of a large ice pillar- it's an Articuno!
Lapras tells Satoshi of the Legendary Bird Pokémon and of how rare and powerful they are, so Satoshi decides to catch it. But just as he decides this, Articuno is startled of seeing Satoshi and goes away. Suddenly a man appears. His name is Blaine. Just then a Venonat sits on his head, and Blaine yells at it. He says he is the Cinnabar Island Gym Leader, so Satoshi decides to travel there.
Later on, Satoshi reaches the gym and finds Blaine inside with a Rapidash and Ninetales. He talks about the town's lab, and Satoshi mentions Prof Oak's lab. He shows Blaine his Pokédex. He tells Satoshi of the research being done on Mew in the Island's Lab to make a Mewtwo. Then he talks about Articuno. He challenges Satoshi to a battle, and he accepts. They go into another room, and each send out the Pokémon. Satoshi sends out Charmeleon while Blaine sends out Arcanine.
Blaine asks why he isn't using a Template:Type2 against him, but Satoshi ignores the question and replies that he'll win anyway. Arcanine attacks with Fire Spin, but has no effect. Then Charmeleon attacks, and it's a One hit KO. Satoshi wins and is awarded the Volcano Badge before noticing his Charmeleon glowing. Charmeleon evolves into Charizard! Blaine starts to tell his life story.
Blaine was in the Seafoam Islands and his Fire Pokémon were hurt, and remembers seeing Articuno fly away. Satoshi says with his Charizard, his Pikachu, his Lapras, and a Jigglypuff he had caught earlier, he'll be able to beat all of the Legendary Birds and help Blaine catch Articuno.
Back in the islands, Satoshi sees Articuno again. He sends out Pikachu who attacks it, and Articuno freezes it. So Satoshi sends out Jigglypuff, puts it to sleep. Now Blaine flies on Charizard and throws a Poké Ball at it and it's caught! Satoshi flies away on his Charizard into the distance as Blaine, with Articuno, waves goodbye.
