Ash's Heracross was the first Pokémon Ash captured during his travels through Johto. Its voice actor in both Japanese and English is Katsuyuki Konishi.
It first appeared in A Sappy Ending. In that episode, several Heracross and Pinsir were having a territorial dispute. One of the Heracross followed Ash and his friends as they tried to figure out a solution to the problem. Eventually, Ash captured the Heracross.
Heracross was good in battle, but it often got distracted by tree sap. It also would try licking the sap from Bulbasaur's bulb, much to the Pokémon's chagrin.
